Yeah, it just struck me as especially bad.  And distracting in a character who's supposed to be such a badass.  It makes him seem like a buffoon.  I couldn't take him seriously.  It's not just the accent either.  The actor's bearing, body language . . . I can't put my finger on it.  He seems miscast to me.

I can't read all 963 comments to see whether this has been covered already, but the Governor's accent is the worst accent I've ever heard.

It's a little more quiet and dreamlike.  It's really good.  It wouldn't sound out of place on Rust Never Sleeps, especially with the accoustic-into-electric jam structure.  Kind of Rust Never Sleeps meets Ragged Glory.  I'm not generally partial to looooooong songs, and I reflexively want to criticize the length of

Fuck you, TV, for not giving us a Hunter S. Thompson show about a drug-addicted cop in deep with the mob.

Man, you're not joking about "The Descent." It's so good I have to keep listening to it over and over to make sure I'm not imagining how good it is. And it's holding up just fine. It's been awhile since Bob has thrilled me this much. I can't wait for Silver Age.

Is a Marc Maron arc really going to happen?

Totally.  The show was billed as a solo acoustic set, so I guess I was expecting a quieter, more contemplative sort of evening.  But a full punk band couldn't have come on any more intense than he did.  I've never seen anyone work up such a sweat while playing an acoustic guitar.

Warehouse deserved some discussion too.  It always surprises me how that record seems to get ignored.  I love it.  "These Important Years," "Standing in the Rain," "Could You Be the One," "It's Not Peculiar," "No Reservations" … lots of Bob classics there.

Something else to look out for is the Calm Before the Storm bootleg.  Just Bob playing raw solo acoustic (and some electric) versions of some of his best Husker, solo, and Sugar tunes.  Pretty much captures what he was doing during his 1995 solo shows, one of which was possibly the most thrilling concert I've ever
