David Giuntoli did an interview somewhere after season five where he said there was probably only one or two seasons left of the narrative. Based on what I know of the creative team they had to know where the odds sat.

Kevin McFarland reviewed the first three seasons (I filled in two or three times) and the show got dropped when he left AVC at the end of season three. There was then enough positive commenter buzz that the powers that be asked me to revive it.

I was indeed not happy.

I think if BoJack had reacted to learning Mr. Peanutbutter lied about the awards by attacking him and getting into an epic fight scene, that would have pushed it up. BoJack being struck numb and Mr. Peanutbutter walking away whistling wasn't as satisfying as it could have been.
