I blame the writers' strike for that myself - the abbreviated season meant that the narrative got derailed and they had to pick up from an odd place. That second season premiere is really rocky.

And it felt so much like a WB show, particularly in some of the later episodes as the melodrama of the Jaye/Eric/Heidi triangle progressed to leave episodes on a darker note.
It's not just you. I noticed it right after taking the screen-cap and then couldn't unsee it.
That's been in limbo for years - Fuller tweets about it occasionally but I think it's a mix of legal issues and at least one comic publisher involved going under since the project started.
He got scurvy!
Great choices on both counts.
There was a mention in the script that when Littlefoot discussed her vision at the end there would be a more elaborate CGI casino.
I found a copy of the shooting script online, and interestingly there were some early references to Jaye's relationship troubles - saying she wanted to get away from Eric after what happened, and telling Gentlefeather the full story about the "mend what was broken" experience.
The expression on Sharon and the maintenance guy's faces was my favorite part of that sequence.
I considered taking that approach in the review, but not being Native American or an expert on that culture I'm nowhere close to being a qualified gauge of the cultural sensitivity here. (Though I do agree with Gerry that the Cowboys and Indians Massacre set is a bridge too far.) I'm sure there will be many thoughts…
I could be persuaded to do so. We'll have to see what the powers that be think.
The Mindy Project killed Elmore Leonard?
I actually did use it once, all the way back in the pilot review. Though it was in the teaser/summary text.
That was just mean.
I sorely considered making that last moment of her flummoxed after Aaron walks out with the flamingos and the cow-creamer the screenshot, because Katie Finneran just looks so flabbergasted.
That moment was the best. Darrin's just so easygoing he doesn't even question it.
Now I'm imagining a twist to the Parks and Rec episodes where Ben's in Washington and he carries on a torrid love affair with Olivia Pope.
I'm very hopeful Fuller keeps his promise to use Dhavernas more in S2.
It really does get harder as the series goes on to not think they're just being mean.
Again, I deeply wish that Heidi had shown up earlier. Granted, Jaye's investment in Eric over time is what drives a lot of the fury of these interactions, but Staite and Dhavernas are just so delightful together.
