I think it's Dutch… for professor!

And it always makes me sad.

Amen to that.

Amen to that.

Pope and Maggie are the only surviving members of his original group - Maggie killed off three of them to escape, and the rest got wiped out by an alien missile when they tried to steal the GTO. The Berserkers are implied to just be a ragtag group of like-minded individuals who flock to Pope because he's charismatic

Given that he's scarred in exactly the same fashion as Sandor Clegane on Game of Thrones, and had a seemingly fearful reaction to fire in an earlier episode, it seemed to fit. Originally I called him Scarface, and apparently his canonical name is Red-Eye, but I've stuck with this one.

I'm probably kinder to this episode given that I've actually really missed this show, but I agree this wasn't the confident premiere I was hoping for. Certainly better than the muddled mess they had in the finale, but there's also a sense they're cleaning up after that mess here. And as far as entry points to the show

Best line of the episode: "The other day I was so desperate for a beer I snuck into a football stadium and ate the dirt from under the bleachers."

I consulted a friend of mine who's ex-military, and he said that it's acceptable to call Marines soldiers, but they prefer to be called Marines. His comparison would be if you called a brain surgeon a doctor, when their training and skills leads them to want the honorific. (Which they totally deserve.)

Aren't Marines technically soldiers? This betrays my ignorance of military terminology and I certainly don't want to offend any members of the USMC who might be reading this, but I was under the impression they're still part of the US armed forces and therefore can be classified as soldiers. If I'm wrong, by all means

Twelve hours later, I'm still kind of confused as to what it was doing there. If that had been the whole plot of the episode I'd've been fine with it, here it's like they're clearing out their notebook of story ideas before the finale.
