It's like with david. He was in a coma the whole time, because Regina wanted to torture him, but there was a backup identity waiting for him once he woke up. "Lacey" didn't get activated until Regina showed up because Regina kept Belle in a blank state. There was always a Lacey persona waiting to be used, though.

That's what's so awesome. Belle fell in love with a monster who happened to have some good in him. Sure she liked to play up the good, but she was still drawn to him. Lacey may have a different persona, but deep down in her soul, she is still going to love a monster who happens to have some good in him. That's true…

I agree. It was an awesome episode. I laughed before the credits, throughout the episode, and even during the tag. Kittens!Murder, Jeff reveling in the age difference, Evil study group (with a dead Pierce) reuniting to take out the prime timeline.
Loved it!

The only explicit casting meta-joke they've made was Andre getting his sweater from his father. (I don't count Annie/mad men)
