I've felt that the so called 'heroes' of the show were massive scumbags since season 1, albeit at times very sympathetic scumbags, especially being products of their era. Although, much of what I see in the media and in culture in general about Mad Men (GQ? Banana Republic?) suggests that many viewers don't. Of course…

I think I kinda hope Peggy leaves the ad business eventually, even at the end of this season. It's done wonderful things for her but of all of the SCDP employees she has the right combination of youth, ambition, and the tugging suspicion that none of it means anything to set out on something even greater.
