Because of the Percy books, my kid totally got into both D'Aulaire books. They really do pack a lot of stuff into them. I personally got a kick at seeing how Riordan would "update" the myths for the modern day. It made for some amusing bits.

In the books at least, they explain why the famous monsters are still around. Basically, they are reformed from Chaos.

Shit. We have a Great Dane, and while that hound is as cute as a button, nobody is going to ask him to pose in lingerie for GQ anytime soon.

Not until she demonstrates she has a righteous rack, anyway.

I dunno that anyone give The Rock a free pass. It's just Bay's best movie. I mean there's a plot and everything, and you can tell what's going on most of the time. I enjoyed it, despite it's Bay-isms. Like, why there is some sort of fiery furnace thing still running in the bowels of Alcatraz? So Sean Connery can

Uh, wouldn't that be like radio? We used to leave MTV on in much the same way people had their radios on, as background while we did other stuff. When a really good video came on, we'd stop and watch, then go back to our thing. Was that really so hard for the tv ad people to get?

Julie Brown was teh suck. Attractive sure, but mega irritating. Tabitha Soren married Micheal Lewis of The Blind Side, Liar's Poker and assorted other pretty cool books fame.

Aren't all reality shows more or less knock-offs of Brit reality shows? Perhaps we should be blaming the UK instead of MTV. Or maybe even the masses of people who like and watch these shows. I always get twitchy about bashing a commercial enterprise for — GASP! — giving people what they apparently want.

Kind of like…radio, Professor? Kind of overly harsh there aren't we? As cool as live shows are, for a goodly while they too were seen as a way to drive record sales.

I can think of a few thing I'd LIKE for her to do. Such a cutie back in the day.

Ron Zook doesn't know diddly about football anyway. Just ask anyone from Illinois (or Florida). But seriously, I think that — as silly as it sounds — there is a lot more heart and plain old fun in college ball than the NFL. Yes, its a big business, and yes, the overall athletic ability of the pros is superior, but

As a kid
I thought "Battlefield" was an amazing bit of theater about how bad racism was. Just wow-inducing. Today I cringe a bit.

Apparently there are ways you can "harden" (heh heh) Leliana, and even Alistair, so that they will put up with your dick moves. It has to do with how you respond to their personal quests. But Wynne is always a goody good, you'll never get her to go along with your evil ways.

Watterson's brother
My brush with greatness: I know his brother. He lives a few blocks away, and his kid and mine went to the same elementary school. Bill's bro is a pretty neat dude himself.

Watterson was getting grumpy with the suits and it showed. He was a lot preachier and cynical in the final year. You can really see it in that collection. He was still better than just about anyone else, though.

The thing about Tenpenny Tower was that it was the ONLY time in the game that being a nice guy got people screwed over. If it could have happened more often, now that would have added a dimension to the game that would have been interesting. As it was, it was just a kick in the teeth. So fuck you Three-Dog, those

Bethesda makes a helluva sandbox, Bioware makes a helluva story. Two different things. I prefer the story, but that doesn't mean the box can't be fun.

Have they improved the side quest integration? That was one thing I thought goofy about the first one. I'm in a race to save the galaxy, but to get at all the content I have to wander over to some random system that has nothing to do with the main quest.

Cliffhanger? That's no cliffhanger at the end of ME1. Certainly a big obvious sequel hook, but cliffhanger? No.

I was just out of grad school when Perfect Mate came out, and I distinctly recall some pants-tightening moments in that ep. Far more than the skin show the planet of the blondes generated ("Justice"), oddly enough.
