The writers would have to drastically reduce the number of times Covenant says "Hellfire" or mentions he's a leper.

Much as I love the Belgariad/Malloreon, I think I'd prefer watching a series based on Eddings' Elenium trilogy; it's (slightly) darker and with more intrigue in the same type of epic quest scenario.

Brubaker? Hobbs? Whoever wrote that must be a big Robert Redford fan.

I was going to watch this, but then, um, I just carried on living my life.

The High King is amazing (the harp!) and reliably has me in tears at the end, but the fourth book, Taran Wanderer is very nearly as good. That's the one that particularly resonated with me when I reread it as an adult and had started scratching for my own worms.

I recall reading that Memory, Sorrow and Thorn was an inspiration of sorts to Martin before he started writing ASOIAF. Williams' trilogy is a lot less bloated than Martin's and is actually complete, so it's got that going for it. Which is nice.

I thought the Hyundai ad with the kid wrestling a bear was one of the best of the night.
