You mean aside from how the entertainment industry's love of ratings basically paved the way for the Trump presidency to begin with, by making him a celebrity and household name?

To be honest, the fact that it got a fifth season was a bit of a shock, much less a full-length one. And I'm assuming that most of the cast's contracts will be up next year, so that's yet another reason to assume this is it.
I mean, it is what it is, and I think someone could watch the movie and make exactly the same value judgments I did, and come away hating it. But I had a ton of fun.
Weekend watching report:
There is literally a woman in the trailer who says "I'm going to destroy your city". The threat is quite explicit.
Bicker? Of course. But a person who sees an imminent threat to their home and is so overwhelmed by the idea of having to work with others in order to stop it that they can't manage it even for a little while is not a hero. Hell, they're barely even a functional human being. Most of us, after all, manage to do our…
The last two are a big part of the reason why Winter Soldier is the best of the MCU, but I think it's telling that they're so localized. A few exceptions don't change the fact that when it comes to interactions between most of the headliners, the demands of the plot determine character behavior, not the other way…
I see we're back to this idea that a group of people who have individually dedicated themselves to helping others would, when faced with an existential threat to their home, adamantly refuse to work together to combat this threat, and have to be cajoled, browbeaten, and backed into it.
Well, Iron Fist came out in March, four months ago, and Luke Cage was in October, ten months ago. So… yeah.
Oh no, see, the hallway in the beginning of the trailer is extremely well-lit, and in fact completely barren and white, the way everyone decorates their hallways. That's how you can tell they're mixing things up. By, um, copying from Iron Man 2 and Agents of SHIELD.
I wish John McCain a full and speedy recovery. I also wish him the compassion and clarity of mind to realize that every American deserves the standard of care he enjoys, without the fear that receiving that care will bankrupt their family. Most of all, I wish him the courage to vote in accordance with those…
And don't forget how Henry was only in position to be king because a few generations before him, your ruling family basically spent a few decades devouring itself until the only plausible contender for the throne was a distant cousin from France.
While in general I agree that an everyman character could be useful on this show, One wasn't it, and I think killing him was the smartest thing the show did. The character was annoying, preachy, and took up oxygen from more interesting castmembers (mainly Two and Three). I agree that in the wake of that, the show…
My guess is that the other Raza crew are affecting the android in order to get her to take over the ship for them.
It's been interesting to see the varying response to Anne With an E. Some people find the dark tone refreshing, while others think it's grimdark for its own sake, and inappropriate to the source material. I'm curious to know where I'll fall, as someone who read most of the books and saw some of the 1980s show, but…
I definitely think the show should be spending more time focusing on its central conceit - can these evil characters reinvent themselves after having lost their memories - than on its broader universe. That's actually one of the reasons I've enjoyed the way that show has pivoted Four into a villain, because it ties…
"Prayer" is obviously a great Aeryn episode, but to me it's the exception that proves the rule. It's what you get after a season in which she's been passive, defined by the contents of her uterus, and even worse, defined by the other gene donor to the contents of her uterus. And it's not as if the follow-up to the…
only 37 percent of those polled say Democrats stand for something; 52 percent say they mainly stand against Trump
I think the idea that Noranti is meant to come off as awful at the beginning of the season might have worked for me if anyone on the ship had actually said this. I mean, yes, they've all got other shit going on, but if they're taking time out of their day to give Sikozu "the reason why you suck" speeches, there's…
You know, I'll be honest, I had literally forgotten that T3 existed until I read your comment. Which doesn't do a lot to undermine my conviction that John Connor is a secondary character in this series.
