I don't think that was even eligible for the best song Oscar, but either way, since The Force Awakens was a 2015 movie, that opportunity has passed.

Considering that Miranda is writing the songs for Moana, I think he has a very good chance of completing his EGOT next year.
Especially since it's still unclear what, if any, connection to ISIS this attack had. Everything is still very hazy, but from what I've read it sound like this guy was a hate-filled nut on several different axes who was inspired by ISIS propaganda online. That's a far cry from the planned ISIS attacks in Paris, and…
You mean they want me to block all ads on the site? Seems counterproductive.
There have been autoplay ads for a while, but this is the first time I've had one with audio that automatically comes on and has no option to pause/mute. I can't imagine who would design an ad like that and not realize that it would break even the most tolerant user's patience.
I actually don't notice ads that much, and I'm sympathetic to the argument that sites need them unblocked to survive. But this kind of ad is an absolute abuse of my tolerance, so into the block folder it goes.
I think West's character returns in a guest role a couple of seasons after that to tell Neela that he's in a better place and that he was wrong to blame her. They end up together at the end of the series.
Oh, look: an ad that autoplays video with sound, and no option to stop or even mute it. Welcome to AdBlock, AV Club.
Having seen other pictures from that photoshoot, it's pretty clear that he was mugging for the camera in every one. If anything, Evans comes off as a bit of a spoilsport.
Forget what his name is, I want to know why the President of the United States on Person of Interest is an Irrelevant number. What, did he sleep with someone's wife?
One of the things that the Marvel One Shots did well was create a sense of a universe that bridges the MCU movies, and in which the secondary characters in that world have lives and personalities (it's also something that Agents of SHIELD could have done, if, you know, AoS was capable of doing anything). It's a shame…
My point is that it isn't an oddball position at all. Family planning is essential to any form of social justice, and King understood that. Read his acceptance speech upon receiving the Margaret Sanger award in 1966:
The point is that King wasn't just pro-choice in principle. He supported Planned Parenthood, who work to give women, most of them poor, access to birth control, abortion, and other health services. Given that right now, fifty years later, American politicians are working hard to close off those avenues of access, so…
So hang on, is there a new episode of Preacher this week? I really don't get what this show is going with its scheduling.
She's spoken against Citizen's United many times, and repealing it is in her platform. Which is unsurprising, given that Citizen's United was an anti-Hilary group.
These are all historical facts that you can verify with a bit of googling. For example, Planned Parenthood awarded MLK its Margaret Sanger award, and in his speech he spoke about the importance of allowing women to control family planning. So yes, he supported reproductive justice.
I think it's true if you assume that "antihero show" is a specific genre with particular conventions, not just a general-purpose description of a show starring an antihero. To take an example that I was just thinking about in another context, Philip and Elizabeth Jennings are clearly antiheroes, but The Americans…
But why does that anger exist? Again, there's usually a concrete reason that's rooted in privilege and economic structures. We live in a patriarchal society, where a lot of the power that men have comes from being able to benefit from the unpaid labor (physical and emotional) of women. So when women start demanding…
Good point on Mystique. I thought Apocalypse had the chance to do some interesting things with her when it established that Storm admired her. You could tie that into Arab nationalism and the resentments of the third world. But like everything else about Storm, that's a thread the film abandons after its first act.
GotG is a good counterpoint, but that's largely because it was designed from the ground up as a team story. The contrast between it and the Avengers movies (and Civil War) is telling.
