The $100,000 Pyramid (ABC, 10 p.m.):

Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Jul. 14 - Everyone got a chance at a DD, but only champ Gavin was correct, which helped him maintain the advantage going into FJ with $15,800 over Vicky at $9,800 and Larissa at $3,000.

He did sports announcing, but apparently no game shows.

According to the mostly brutal reviews, it tries to mix that with wacky comedy and it doesn't work at all.

They tape a week of shows on the same day and players can watch the games before their own during regular play.

I think they might have had to accept John Daly for that clue as well, as he also hosted "It's News to Me" and did some anchor work for CBS, although he was better known as an anchor for ABC.

Well, if he was concerned about being primaried, he should have thought about that before making strong statements about his problems with the bill and joining himself at the hip with Sandoval.

Calling a series "The Big Event" is just monumentally stupid, because you know going in that it's not going to live up to its title with any consistency.

I don't know that being labeled as "the one who saved Obamacare" can really stick, since if it becomes clear it won't pass, some other Senators will suddenly get brave and come out against it.

In this situation, where the only live opponent has less than two-thirds of your score, you should force your opponent to be correct to beat you. Gavin's $10,000 bet is a very unnecessary risk.

Gavin also bet more on FJ than he needed to on the previous show, so Jill could have noticed that and bet small herself, hoping that Gavin would do exactly what he did.

And he's really backed himself into a corner with his previous statements. Unless the governor reverses course, there would be no reasonable basis for Heller to do so.

If Bad Ape can make an irresistible strudel, then he's a LeBeau ripoff for sure.

Apparently Sandoval isn't down with the new version, which should mean Heller isn't either. But I'll keep calling just to make sure.

Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Jul. 13 - Very good contest that saw Terry have a golden opportunity to go from last to first on DD3, the final clue of DJ. He did the right thing by betting nearly everything but couldn't come with the correct response, so it was champ Gavin in front going into FJ with $19,800 vs. Jill at

That thread is how I feel about anyone who refuses to consider that worthwhile TV existed before The Simpsons.

Looks like viewers are tired of being burned by sub-standard scripted network summer shows. And with cable and streaming, it's not like people are desperate for new dramas in the summer.

No mention of anything J!-related on the main page recently.

Caught up on Catastrophe. It got me to thinking how much better HBO's Divorce would be if Sharon Horgan was in the lead instead of SJP.

The Jack Benny Jell-O Program, at its peak from the mid-30s to the early 40s, is absolutely the best. Anyone who likes modern banter-heavy comedy should love this.
