Any pop/rock act whose peak of popularity came after the contestants were no longer teenagers fall into the "after their time" category, but you're right, it's more that the group is not that famous with non-music fans.
Apparently the syndication prospects for the other Chicago shows aren't as strong as hoped, which might have had something to do with this decision.

It depends if the tournament was taped outside of the regular taping sequence, which is sometimes the case. If the tourney was taped in sequence, it likely would have been about a month between the end of the champ's previous taping session and the one after the tournament, as they tape for two days every other week.
Once people get used to talking dogs that have blogs, it's hard to go back and rein that kind of premise in.

In fairness to Drew, he's doing a much improved job. When he started he was horrendous, now after ten years he's all the way up to mediocre.

This past Sunday there were seven series on the networks that were fractional, and six of them have been renewed (as well as OUAT, which wrapped up last week).
People who laugh at everything are so delightful and not at all disturbing!
