I rewatched Swingers last night. I don't know why, because I just saw it a few weeks ago, I guess I just didn't expect to be in the mood for it again right away.

Well, there is that episode where he sells a screenplay to a Hollywood studio, who declare it to be "too good" and instead of filming it they have him write Ghostchasers 3. I don't know if that really addresses your point, I just love that episode.
You guys probably get too many suggestions for this piece as it is, but I'd really like to see one of these done with Robert Pollard. The only problem would be choosing a song. He was in a rut the first few years after GBV broke up, but he's been on a real songwriting tear ever since the first Boston Spaceships album.…
I would die.
On the "Skull" front, I think it's kind of funny how a lot of people think it's a song about a one night stand, but it's really about heroin. Basically the same thing anyway, when you get down to it.
Yup, money and looks will fix everything.
I can't believe we were thinking the same damn thing at the same time!
You're walking on thin ice, mister.
The price markup on CDs is the worst thing about that format. CDs come in shitty jewel cases that always crack or break off the hinges, they always come with broken teeth (the little disc holders), they always become scratched and unplayable the moment you put them in your car stereo, and then after all of that you…
More like a rumbling, barely audible guttural sound.
Is he still going to do that Taxi Driver remake for Lars Von Triers' new Five Obstructions project? Because I'm really looking forward to that. The first Five Obstructions with Jorgen Leth is brilliant.
I'll let that slide, considering it's coming from a fellow Dead Milkmen fan.
Sorry, I forgot that having positive things to say about Phish or The Dead = an immediate nosethumbing. The Grateful Dead were way more DIY and punk than most modern SUPER PUNX bands.
Are you saying "pow" or "pah"?
I think I explained my reasoning pretty well. I'm a pretty big Fugazi fan myself, but I've heard a bunch of their live stuff before and their shows aren't so different from each other to the point where I'd want to hear a million different performances of "Smallpox Champion," because it's going to be basically the…
I think this is a little unnecessary, unless you want a token from a show that you went to. I never saw them live, but I've heard a few shows from the last live series that they released and, while they're great performances, it's not like they were incredibly diverse improvisers when they played live and no two shows…
Christmas starts earlier every year! Asians can't drive! Airline food! Michael Jackson!
That was also about twenty years ago. It's a much different climate for television now.
That wasn't exactly what I was implying, but sure, take it that way. Did you see Tiny Furniture? I'm not a class-warrior or anything, but I'm sick and tired of indie movies about rich brats from Manhattan who lead boring, unexamined lives. At least a movie like Ghost World challenges the selfishness and navel-gazing…
I'm all for more movies with strong, well-developed female characters that are actually purposeful, but it would be a good thing if more of them were like Ghost World and less like Tiny Furniture. Thanks for reading!
