This show grew on me…
…while flipping through the channels when I was waiting for Modern Family. I have a pretty strong hatred of Patricia Heaton, but she is often the butt of the joke (her inability to actually sell a car) so that makes her a little more bearable.

You know, I always liked the plot point that the dead bodies in the Revolutionary War would be "unidentified war dead." I don't know why, but I thought that was clever.

It seems to me that Bloom County gets kind of sort shrift compared to Calvin & Hobbes, and I suspect that has something to do with the crappiness of Outland and the "meh" of Opus (the Sunday only strip). But of the 80-90s trifecta of C&H, Bloom Country and Far Side, Bloom County was my personal favorite.

I'll take a Beetle Queen
over a Human Centipede any day of the week.

BARNEY, North Dakota, you say?

Somehow, one memoir was good enough for Benjamin Franklin, but not for the great Jen Lancaster.

I, too, made the life altering mistake of reading the Wikipedia article on this movie. I'll grant that it's a new concept, but not one that I never needed to hear about.

I just heard a great Bob Odenkirk interview
on Marc Maron's newish podcast show. Very interesting and a lot of insight into his "Hollywood" experiences.

Wouldn't the male version of the Dixie Chicks
be the Tennessee Lambs?

Man, do I love me some Rosemary's Baby
Dare I say it's my favorite movie of all time. And since I've given birth, my love has only increased. Pregnancy is filled with fear, worry, people telling you conflicting information, people not listening to you, sickness, aches, emotional mood swings and insomnia. And that's

Does anyone else remember
the old Comedy Central show Sports Monster from back in the day with Nick Bakay, Joe Bolster and Jon Hayman? I may be the only person not actually affiliated with the show who remembers it. Plus, I have a Sports Monster baseball cap. Worth 50 cents on eBay today.

I used to be a Razzie Member
when I lived in LA and those awards shows are super low rent. Like the South Paris, Maine-Kiwanis-Man-of-the-Year-level low rent. They used to tape clips from Siskel and Ebert to show on the Teevees during the "ceremony."

While The Hollywood Reporter thinks
that the Recession makes everyone all ready to see big fat American babies, the Recession may actually be linked to the decrease in the birth rate starting in the fall of 2008. Cause, you know babies cost money and stuff. Oh, it's true!

I am an American
who lives in Canada and as someone who has experienced both health insurance systems, I totally love, love, love the Canadian system. Simply not even having to pay a copay every damn time I go to the doctor's office is practically worth the move up here.

Was the Button Eye comment
a CORALINE reference?

Orson Welles Haunts my Nightmares
for his narration for the Nostradamus "documentary" "The Man Who Saw Tomorrow" which played on heavy rotation on HBO back in the day.

The Letter
sounded a lot like the Joe Cocker version to me, rather than the original Box Tops version.

I, too, love me some BNL and in addition to some great cuts mentioned above, I'd like to throw in my love for "King of Bedside Manor" and (yes, the terribly quirky) "New Kids on the Block" both from GORDON. Whenever I hear NKOTB I always think not specifically about the titular band, but of all teen idols from Elvis

Peter Graves. The underrated, underpaid incredibly handsome host of "Biography," tonight on "Biography…"

Kubrick and the Moon Landing
During the AV Club liveblog of the Oscars the other night, someone (Todd?) mentioned the CT about Stanley Kubrick being part of the faked moon landing production and how his movie, THE SHINING, was a big film-length confession. I'd love to see an AVC dissection of this steaming ball of
