I agree with Sava's comparisons of this episode to 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' and thought the same thing. But the weird thing is that while I absolutely adore Curb, my grade for this would probably only be a B or B+. Too much of the humor seemed Chuck-Lorre written.

Along with being more difficult to sign in to, the community grading abilities being taken away is easily my least favorite thing about the re-design.

According to Alan Sepinwall, the scripts to certain episodes now actually say Larry instead of Jerry, meaning it's presumably a permanent change.

I like Craig, I just hope he doesn't become a regular. That kind of humor can easily be overused.

I don't know if I would give it as low as a C, but Sheldon comparing the Thanksgiving party to slavery was just ridiculous and unrealistic. It's highly unlikely that he (or anyone in the show, for that matter) would talk like that, and it seems like the writers put that bit in just to be funny.

Did anyone else see the grade change from a B something to what it is now (C+)? Did he change it?

I guess I liked the callback to "Come Fly with Me" when Phil is hit by the toy plane, and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons is getting better. The Jay/Claire sub-plot got better as it went on, and they should have spent more time on that.

I wish TV Club still allowed community grades.

To anyone who wants to see the old layout just one more time before adapting to this one:

I don't agree with the A-. I'd give a B maybe, B+ at highest. I liked the Raj plot, but the sweater plot wasn't really smart comedy, and too much time was spent on it. Sheldon was also a huge jerk in this one.

I almost stopped watching it in season four a couple of times, and really only kept at it because I really liked the previous two seasons. Thankfully, it's better now. I've seen all the S7 episodes so far (they're not bad) and some are calling S6 the best one yet.

I agree with the A-. Really strong pilot, and I thought it was good storytelling to not have the viewer be introduced to Betty until the last minute.

None too coincidentally, Community got the community A once for "Modern Warfare."

Not sure. They don't allow it for the community grades, but there are some reviewers who might still use it. Two examples: "Seinfeld" (Curb Your Enthusiasm)
"The Chinese Restaurant" (Seinfeld) Those both got A+'s.

For episodes like that, you have to assign it a rare A+.

When it comes to 'Arrested Development,' I'm actually more fond of Pier Pressure and Afternoon Delight.

Pilot, Crazy Handful of Nothin,' Fly, To'hajiilee, Ozymandias.

I think he's right. Season five as a whole has actually been rather disappointing by MF standards so far.

That wasn't in the pilot, it was three episodes later: "The Incident." (the show's best episode IMO) But yes, that's true.

Sometimes I feel like MF would be funnier if it didn't try to be so funny with all the cheap physical humor. This episode was a great example of that. Luke shooting Claire with paint-balls, Phil leaning on the valet…although the plot and one-liners were great, the physical humor wasn't that funny and dragged it down.
