There's definitely a bit of a silly, theatrical 'are they serious?' element to them which I reckon puts some people off, and to be honest would normally put me off - any music with even a whiff of novelty is definitely not my thing.

"It's more like surfing than skating."
the soundtrack version always sounded a bit too 'studio' to me (especially the vocals), but both versions are good.
I appreciate Far Beyond Driven mostly for how far they managed to push their sound into outright savagery. 'Slaughtered' for example is just unbelievably heavy. Dime's queasy rollercoaster guitar riff keeps it really catchy though at the same time.
Even though the band has somewhat disowned it (I think they've only just recently stopped talking shit about it and playing it live occasionally), 'Burn' is a really great Cure song and always feels like a b-side to Disintegration to me. The extended guitar part that starts about halfway through, especially. Gorgeous.

Joseph Gilgun is great.
okey dokey.

"Jonah Ryan is the congressman that the people of New Hampshire deserve."
I think my favorite thing about it is how it keeps raising the stakes in terms of how bad and desperate the character's situations continuously become.
What a shame. Great actor and by all accounts a wonderful guy.
Absolutely.
As a Terminator obsessive, I definitely felt how much The Driver influenced those car chases and just the way Cameron shot the city right away.
Being released so close to Star Wars definitely helped it go unnoticed by many but I'm so glad I found it recently. It's description as an 'existential thriller' is so on point.
while it might not fit this segment exactly, has the AVclub ever given any posthumous love to William Friedkin's Sorcerer?
Fantastic movie.
I absolutely think of them in those terms. Both have a very similar feel.
