People are just very into that 'we're so progressive' gimmick you mentioned these days around here. I was recently told here that "rational debate is only necessary when the answer isn't obvious". Yikes.

Correct.

I don't mind the AVclub posting links to this crap, it's easy enough to ignore and its worth discussing if people feel the need.

Well, I didn't feel like I did… but the song lyric said I did, sooo… no choice, really.

Sadly, this is one area we can't blame on the religious right.

We've been united by annoyance (well, even more so).

They've been ramping this stuff up for a while. I must admit the fact that it's a cartoon character article that really seems to be bringing the extent of it into focus for a lot of people is very enjoyable.

It's like a train tunnel.

"Look how red my face is! SO much bloviating."

A variety of styles (or opinions) aren't really the strong suit of these folks.

nah, just from my brain mush.

It makes Fred feel better.

In a sense, yes.

(exhales a Kool in your face)

Indeed.

Yes.

Any show Iannucci is involved with has my full attention.

"How can she lift that car with one arm and throw it at the bad guys??"

Look, man… it's not what you or your art has to say that's important. It's how you or the art appears at the first casual glance and how problematic that is for those who see it and the uninformed assumptions they make as a result. It's not about content, it's only about what's on the surface.

Some of the articles that have been going around here lately make me wonder if they even know The Onion is related to them anymore.
