Not saying that at all, just that different people have very different ideas of what constitutes 'being offensive', and that in certain cases they're willing to do pretty terrible things to remedy their hurt feelings.

I think a lot of the worst noise on both ends of the spectrum (and as you point out, the fence riding center) seems to be more representative than it probably legitimately is, simply because it's being put forth by a very loud minority online.
