That's fair… with Betsy especially it's like, all you did was marry a cyclist and now you've spent 20 years having this complete piece of shit embedded in your marriage to varying degrees. She's a very resilient woman.

The Thick of It. It's like a hug from an old friend that's really clever and swears a lot.
RIP Dr. Giggles
It seems a lot of reviews are trying to examine sociopolitical statements that (to a large degree) aren't really there, so it's almost like they're taking the movie down a peg for not giving them what they went in expecting to write about.
If Lance Reddick is an asshole, I'd be very surprised given this evidence:
They've all gone out for ice cream.
Well, I mean you can't just say 'No' to that, no matter who you are.
Yep. Armstrong did some gross shit to a lot of people, but his treatment of Greg LeMond (who by all accounts is one of the kindest pro athletes ever) tends to make me the most angry.
I've always enjoyed Greg LeMond's anecdote about how Lance's mom approached him and asked something to the effect of "so, do you think you could help my son become less of an asshole?"
I wanted to like it given the talent involved, but mostly I walked away confused as to how they could make what is a genuinely interesting rise and fall based on bullying and deception feel sooo boring.
I think the key is that at heart it's an 80s revenge movie but it just has a real 90s coat of paint because of the soundtrack. The 'Goth Death Wish' comment is pretty on point, really.
Shouts out to Michael Wincott's voice/face/hair/sword collection for being awesome.
It's more like surfing than skating.
Not anymore, evidently.
The one-two punch of 'Summer's Kiss' into 'Faded' is probably why this is my favorite Whigs album.
He definitely was rocking some Jackie O frames back then at other shows, but at that point he could pull it off better.
I find just meeting other Afghan Whigs fans is enough to arouse strong affection.
'Faded' really kinda is Dulli's 'Purple Rain'.
Whenever I get the chance I like to point Whigs fans to this unreleased track just in case they haven't heard it before:
For me this album is even better. It has a similar angst, but it's balanced out by a lot more moments of beauty and atmosphere. Very bittersweet.
