That picture was hilarious. It was simultaneously too high quality to be a candid, and too random to be posed/professional.

Most of my hate for her is based on the fact that the first half and second half of her character feel like completely different people.

So…a dynamic female character was simplified to further a male character's narrative?

I'm pretty frustrated about TV Shae. It's like they bothered fleshing her out into a more interesting character just to undo all the good work and reduce her to a petty, jealous bitch this season. I don't get why they built up her loyalty to Sansa if she was going to throw her under the bus anyway.

Yes, it is still rape if you orgasm. That actually happens with some frequency, and can be very confusing and embarrassing for the victim. It's a physiological response to stimulation. It does not amount to consent.

While I'm sometimes frustrated by the show's "a-politicism," as Todd puts it, it also occasionally allows for brilliance. Communism and organized religion are ostensible rivals, and much of Elizabeth and Philip's anger with Paige comes from the fear of losing their daughter to the enemy, sure. But much also comes,

"the least popular character worldwide is Sansa Stark, something that those who haven’t read the books might not really understand. "

Yeah, but then he made a comment to Sansa at her wedding about giving her a Lannister baby that makes me think he knows but doesn't care.

"How many times do I have to tell you? My cheating didn't mean anything."
    "Well mine did."

Oh thank God coverage is back, and just in time. I binged the hell out of this show over the past two weeks and was deeply upset to see I had only just missed regular AV Club recaps.

Random list with 0 order likely missing 90% of my faves:
    - Vaults, "Cry No More"
    - The National, "Pink Rabbits"
    - Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Sacrilege"
    - Sia, "Electric Heart"
    - Janelle Monae, "QUEEN"
    - Neko Case, "Ragtime" (because Todd already mentioned "Night Still Comes")
    - Laura Marling, "I Was An Eagle"
    - Vampire Weekend,

I'm surprised more haven't mentioned Laura Marling. Easily my favorite album of the year (though, to be fair, there's still a ton I haven't listened to yet), and probably my favorite album of hers to date, which is really saying something. I fucking love Laura Marling.

I don't have a problem with Daenerys' herself so much as how the scene was constructed. Her speech itself was fine, but having the crowd respond with "mother" and start treating her like some holy being plays into some colonialist fantasy bullshit.

Huh. I hated the season 4 finale so much I basically stopped watching the show. Fucking Dean (No pun intended. Oh, who am I kidding? Pun intended)

Born in '91. They were my favorite band around 8-10 because of my mom and sister. It's a band that suits the show.

@avclub-e53fc2424af041d07a7eef5cd8773505:disqus He's actually awesome, if underused, on that show. I know. I couldn't believe it either.

Mixed feelings about Fred, but damn if "terrible to awesome" doesn't describe Wesley's trajectory to a T. Well, terribly terrible to awesomely terrible at least.

And apparently is based, not on a real-life bully, but a professional music critic who failed to appreciate her genius. Blerg.

Season 4 is a weird case. On the one hand, all of the main stuff (The Initiative, Adam, Maggie Walsh, and, of course, Riley) is awful. In terms of overarching narrative, the show takes a qualitative nose-dive from Seasons 2-3. On the other hand, Season 4 has some of the series' best stand-alone episodes, as others

What was weird about that scene was that it should hit home for me in a way it wasn't. Though that may be due to the hangover.
