Went into Philadelphia last night and watched Blazing Saddles at the Academy of Music, followed by about an hour of Mel Brooks answering questions and being Mel Brooks.
Hudson's always been better than he's given credit for. The Crow, Congo, and The Substitute represent a pretty good range of non-Ghostbuster films, and he's right on the money, acting-wise, in each one. Sort of curious what he's up to in Twin Peaks.
Wait, PEOPLE GET PROMOTED NOW?
"I'm Michael Reeves and I'm dead now."
". . . the fuck is this guy selling?"
Cripes, who could you cast as Hopkins?
"This guy, he gets it."
Means we could have a Zatanna movie released at the same time as a Doctor Strange movie (I'm assuming Timm brings Dini along for the ride).
I lived what Patton Oswalt refers to as the "suburban penned veal existence". My first exposure to the show was via an afternoon showing on VH1. I remember watching one of the retrospectives on Rocky and being honestly surprised at the whole midnight showing concept, simply because I'd never seen a movie theatre…
Yeah, there's people you can pull that with and it'll go OK, but not everybody has a natural gift for (or extensive training in) improv. Like, throw Stephen Colbert or Dan Castellaneta or Catherine O'Hara into that situation and they'll probably be OK. I think De Niro would just stare holes in anyone who put him in…
Upvoted because I damn sure didn't expect to see THAT referenced today.
I read one interview where he recounted Waters coming in with two batches of demos, one that would become The Wall, and the other (I believe) for what became The Final Cut. Gilmour says Waters explained the whole metaphor of feeling like there was a wall between himself and the audience, and that his attitude was…
It's complicated.
Is that a typical part of the process for Lynch? The original cut of Blue Velvet was supposedly around four hours.
Nah, she was just playin'.
Upvoted for The Master. Philip Seymour Hoffman as a cult leader in the 40s? Joaquin Phoenix as his unstable new recruit? Amy Adams as his Lady Macbeth-ish wife? Paul Thomas Anderson? I was sold! I was there! Maybe I just wanted it to be a different kind of movie, but what we got seemed to be the most boring…
Her sister.
Not joking.
I mean that's obviously not the impetus behind this, but man are there more people into that than I ever wanted to know.
"I'm pretty sure that Scar was a heterosexual lion".
That must be a lonely town in which to live.
I'm not saying I disagree or anything, but every person I've ever met who cared about such things has taken that "you're so weird" "you have no idea" exchange to mean he's gay. Your point of view is pretty dang novel to…
Same here. I've been a Dresden fan for years, but I recognize their faults and completely understand why they don't work for some people.
Gaiman's long been a guy I respected and admired more than I liked. Maybe I'd have a different opinion if I'd come to his stuff earlier, Sandman blew a lot of young minds. Neverwhere was . . . fine? There's high concepts enough for six novels in that grab bag.
As it stands, I'd kind of like him to keep up his…
