On that subject, said Frenchman was not played by Damien Bonnard; it was Aneurin Barnard.

People treating games as a serious medium annoy me, too.

And someone whose beautiful shouldn't have to declare that "the body is here", but then it's almost like they're drag queens attempting to establish their brand on a reality competition that rewards a USP.

I don't really get why RuPaul would bend over backwards to crown a white queen. It's been years since the "She only likes black glamazons" complaints, she's crowned one black queen over six seasons since the new finale format came into play, and even in the undeniably racist world of American LGBT society I doubt that

Sasha's Power Rangers villain by way of the White Queen by way of an underground lace sex dungeon look was incredible. I was sad she lost the Gigeresque mask, but she still looked so dominant strutting about the stage in it and she was undeniably regal during her coronation.

It's a bit much to complain about theatrics in lipysncs, given that this is a crutch which has been worn down into a splintered nub by legions of previous queens (Roxxxy's Wigception being the most obvious).

Opinions are subjective, natch, but I honestly thought that - cape and excellent accessorising aside - Shea's Village People look was beat by Trinity's, while Sasha's unicorn was the best, so the only round of the ball that she crushed was her rainbow (which I'll agree was the best and that the 'not rainbow' critique

The problem is that drag is such a broad, catch-all term that the idea of judging 'performance' solely on lipysncs is pretty reductive, since there are several strong queens who don't lipsync at all in their shows.

Sasha's slaying only came as a surprise if you'd never seen her work outside of the show, so it's not like she was a scrappy underdog who prevailed against overwhelming odds.

I think it's pretty clear that the lipysncs are tailored to achieve the predetermined outcome that the producers want. Both of Sasha's lipsyncs were low-key emotional in a way that she could easily smash, while Shea didn't even seem to be particularly trying. Then Peppermint got the Britney club classic to carry her

But Shangela was there?

Finale? More like FINAL-GAYYYYYY

While I enjoyed all the lipsyncs, I actually thought that Shea, Peppermint and Trinity were a tad underwhelming, which made me suspect that they probably knew it was a foregone conclusion and that the lipsyncs didn't matter all that much to the final outcome.

I was spoiled by a god damn web comic that showed up on my Facebook feed.

She blanked her after the competition they were both on ended. Whoopydoo.

But couldn't you go out of the house for something worthwhile?

Women are not "generally in control of their media depiction", and your insane belief that this is the case totally explains your complete misunderstanding of what I'm trying to say.

Farrah literally shat all over her award, at the moment she received said award, to complain that they hadn't stayed friends after the competition.

As someone who was all ready after the lip sync debacle for the revelation that Valentina was secretly an adulterous Nazi, I was actually disappointed by the 'revelations' of this episode.

By what definition? Your entire argument appears to be taking a pretty cut-and-dry point - it's bad to reduce women to passive sexual objects in pop culture - and trying to spin this into some gotcha! moment on completely different topics.
