I used to really like his horror books. Of course, The Song of Kali was a slam on India with an ending stolen from the hackiest urban legend (the one about the baby was killed to use as a drug mule) but I didn't know it then. I think Summer of Night was his novellas.

No. Sorry, Delicious Malk, the Breakup was great and sweet. Cedar Rapids was awful.

That's the one. Go in expecting The Office. Leave really really sad.

She seems to be cute and jokey about that - but only after awhile do you realize that she's evil.

Tori Amos had that effect on me. At first I thought that she was deep and profound and sensitive. A few years after college, I realized that she was just self-involved and psychotic.

More like stupid creeps who assume that everyone who isn't in their group is a total whore.

Well it was a big selling point. Oh don't worry about all that messed up Western culture relationships. Our relationships are purer and more valid and we are so modest.

And in some cases, the nerd rage will be completely comical - like when they freak out about black people playing traditionally white roles like Johnny Storm.

Now if only there were some real Asians in the thing.

I thought it invigorated the movie. After that we can focus on the army of mega-healing army dudes.

You would have preferred the Mandarin to be an Ancient Chinese Secret laundromat owner who knew kung fu and spoke Engrish?

You can excuse those stories for being of their time. Preserving that racism into the 21st century is lazy writing at best.

Johnny Lee Miller had plenty of Charisma and it's an awesome fucking show. It also does NOT have oh-so-mysterious Asian women and their TEA CEREMONIES to slowly introduce an episode where the mysterious ENgrish speaking assassins will come in with their awesome robes.

Star Trek V was goofy as hell but at least it was entertaining. In fact it captured the utter absurdity of the original series in a way that no other Star Trek franchise could do (or wanted to do). Of course, I'm saying this as a guy that LOVES it when Kirk is running away from a house cat or shtupping a green woman -

Black lung might have made 27 Dresses funny.

And just a little uncomfortable watching a movie theater massacre in a movie theater.

And there was blood.

And then season four happened.

Pretty much. There was just a lot of nastiness in the thing. I avoided Falling Down for being like that.

I tried reading the New Testament. There weren't that many lions.
