He's no fun, he fell right over.
Aaaaw, honey, honey!
Fry and Laurie certainly play their parts well enough, but I could never accept Fry as Jeeves because he's built like a fullback. Wodehouse describes Jeeves as noiselessly "shimmering" into a room, and I've always pictured him as a slender reed of a person. My candidate for Jeeves would be Alec Guinness in his prime.
Thank you for re-introducing Wodehouse
You don't say much about the Mulliners, and I have always thought they were the most consistently funny stuff Plum ever wrote. However, the story that contains the purest concentrated genius of Wodehouse is "Uncle Fred Flits By", with a Drone and a peripheral Blandings character…
Nicely written until
you stumbled at the finish line, wrecking your carefully constructed ethereal mood with a funky Gladys Knight R&B tune. Not that it's a bad song, but it's so, so out of place here. Not every connection is worth making.
He's headstrong and cocksure.
Or is it the other way around?
Fuck potato chips, anyway.
The greatest potato-based snack on earth is a spudnut, and it pisses me off that the closest outlet is 300 miles away.
He's so good with the servants.
If you're putting a question mark at the front, shouldn't it be inverted?
Odd Ogg.
Atilla you, thisa canta go on!
In Soviet Russia…
I'll be black! (His name is *Schwarz*enegger, after all.)
and Airplane II: The Sequel?
Dr. Stone, would you give the court your impression of Mr. Striker?
I'm sorry, I don't do impressions… my training is in psychiatry.
How could you leave out
Johnny Dangerously?
Umm…
Rock vs Paper vs Scissors?
M*A*S*H vs Splash
Sandstorm!
Sandstorm! SSAANNDDSSTTOORRMM!!
The reason I like this more than any other Wayne role (Rooster Cogburn is a very close second) is that it has more pathos than anything else he ever did. Much of it is right in the script, but Wayne carries it off. Tom Doniphon begins the film as the town hero, and ends with nothing. He never gets his brave showdown…
