Dirty Mary has awesome stunts but as a movie it's merely solid, in my book. I love VANISHING POINT but I love TWO-LANE even more. (I'm not sure that Taylor, Wilson, or Bird belong in other movies but their performances fit right in to the movie.)

Shows what I know about cars. I was taking off of the line of dialogue where the cop goes "We have reason to believe it may be supercharged." (Or whatever of the line is.) I added a "possibly" in parentheses to refer to that line but I'll take your word for it that it's not supercharged.

That's a shame too. That store is a monster. I have mixed feelings about book megastores, but Borders always seem as if they're stocked and staffed by people who really like books.

Kidder's not necessarily wrong about Biskind's book but it's a good, almost novelistic read and well worth your time. But, yeah, gossip trumps depth at times. It should definitely not be treated as the last word on the subject.

They're publishing it unfinished with notes.

Yikes! It's not like there's a shortage of images of Connie Britton looking attractive out there either.

JMS: I love the way SUPREME POWER starts off but lost a little interest when it failed to keep up the pace and even more when it was obvious JMS was bailing. I've been a little way about him ever since.

In a related note, SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT 3 was originally shot as SMOKEY IS THE BANDIT with Jackie Gleaon playing both the cop and the criminal. Confused audiences forced massive reshoots and the return of Jerry Reed.

I was working with a fairly narrow definition here and really wanted to stick to the original glam stuff that popped up in the U.K. New York Dolls (brilliant, agreed), TRANSFORMER, RAW POWER… I was thinking of these as things that couldn't have happened without glam but they didn't really belong here either.

Beck. It's from a new charity album. (That I review here Tuesday.)

We were having a hard time just changing the publication date and had to treat it as a new post. The comments are… in limbo.

There at least used to be a Crucifictorious shirt at the NBC store. My wife has one courtesy of a Scott Tobias Christmas present.

Looking ahead, I'd like to continue this column in a slightly different form once the box gets exhausted and I definitely have my eye on the GOR series. I've never read them, but they sound fascinating. Factor in that the writer is a philosophy professor and that there's a whole subculture that tries to live the Gor

Hey, you're right. It is Vallejo. Good eye.

Err… Here?

No, but he did do one for the book: Here.

They were boxed together at a Half Price Books And Records here in Chicago. (Next to them were similar boxes of Star Trek novels and historical fiction.) I recognized a bunch of titles as SF classics and, of course, knew all the Bond novels. The ones I recognized were all things I'd been curious about and the rest

Shh…. Don Murphy might hear you and start leaving comments again.

Scotteb: I had the same problem! I think that character owns the name for a while.
