Weird…
…how with this review and the Bettie Page obit post a lot of people are hung up on the way the subjects have been appropriated by merchandising and latter-day devotees rather than talking about the subject himself or herself. I'm not sure what that means other than maybe being an icon creates as much distance

WHITE DOG review: Yes. Next week or the week after.

Want a SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER that might make you see this great film? I'll get to it in a second. I've got the same thing with animal movies. I told everyone here that I wouldn't be reviewing MARLEY AND ME because I know it would get to me even if it wasn't any good. And because I know the much-announced dog death

Late again
I know. I know. You'll see part of what's been distracting me soon.

It's going to divide people. It's already created some schisms in this office.

It's a 13-episode season so we only have five issues left. I'm guessing it's play-offs and then we're out. As for next year, I don't know: The McCoy element is rich, but where do you take it next year? And who else is coming up to fill the voids you mentioned.

Tagging problem. I'll fix.

Huh? I'm confused. It is spelled e-n-o-b-a-r-b-u-s. What are you saying?

I don't know why homonyms throw me when I'm writing. It gets worse as I get older. I know the difference, I just don't always write the difference.

The Internet: So easy to be tough. So hard to be tender.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the grade. I went back and forth between an A- and a B+ and landed on a B+ because:
a) I wasn't sure some of the stuff with the neighbors worked as well as the rest of the movie.
and
b) I'm a tough grader.

She didn't. I did. It posted under her name by mistake. (Maria's an ONION contributor and cartoonist.)

It was great. I'll never forget walking down Michigan Ave. at midnight watching people dancing in the street.

Grant Park
I was there. I could have even bought a cheaply produced, $5 t-shirt saying "I Was There When History Changed." (They were being sold before the outcome was clear, which thankfully didn't jinx things.) Best/tackiest shirt of the night: A cartoon Obama in a basketball uniform going up for a dunk while pwning

Should be here tomorrow:

Two things
1) Was that the guy from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Robin's dad?

Are you sure…
…you're not grading down because you're upset Holly is leaving? I agree the Jim/Pam plot didn't work at all, landing with the sort of thud I'd never seen on this show before (though I loved the "I'll walk you to your car" bit.) But the Michael/Holly thread went from funny/sad to sad and then never quite

The grade's for the whole package. The strips are fascinating and fun to read but they're not exactly Kirby and Lee on the FANTASTIC FOUR, if you get my meaning.

Obligatory "too on the nose comment"
Wasn't choosing MISSILE COMMAND for the game a bit too on the nose?
