There are plenty of collections but not that many actual recordings. The two-disc COMPLETE RECORDINGS delivers what its promises, alternate takes and all. It made for frustrating listening in the pre-iTunes era because it sequenced different versions of the same songs right after each other.

Roxy Music
"Once Brian Eno left Roxy Music, did Bryan Ferry continue to advance the band's original vision of ironic sophistication, or did he drop the irony?"

"…for some reason, I find Keith Phipps' voice soothing."

Slow on a holiday weekend…
Isn't it?

Not exactly. It's more opinionated and less analytical. Don't let that deter you, however.

Lexicon: I only saw one show at Hara and _that_ was after I went to college. It was the MTV 120 Minutes tour, continuing my trend of dubious packaged tours. The line-up: Big Audio Dynamite II, Public Image Limited, Live, and a before-they-had-a-record-out-before-they-went-gold Blind Melon.

I've only read a few 87th Precinct novels, but I want to read more. It seems like the '60s and '70s stuff is the prime but I could be wrong. Anyone else have suggestions?

Evelyn Waugh is hilarious.

ANOTHER WOMAN has one great, great moment when Mia Farrow runs into an old friend and is delighted to see her. Then the friend levels with her: We haven't fallen out of touch. I've been avoiding you for years. Then she proceeds to explain exactly what about her toxic personality has driven her away.

The 101 material is to ease you in. The later stuff is for when you're hooked. It's not a best to least-best approach.

I've missed his last few films but BOILING POINT, VIOLENT COP, the quiet drama SCENE AT THE SEA, and especially SONATINE and FIREWORKS are all terrific. I even like KIKUJIRO more than Scott, sentiment and all. (He has a cold, hard heart.)

It's my favorite of his movies.

That is apparently due to the Welles estate. No MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS? Come on.
