Things you learn watching DVD supplements: That scene was added against the director's wishes by a producer who thought the film needed more sex.

BLACK EMANUELLE was one of the most-successful rip-offs. (Note the single "m.") Fun facts: Its star, Laura Gemser makes an appearance in EMMANUELLE 2 and went on to do costume design work. Her filmography included TROLL 2, which brings us back to this week's Inventory.

Quotability
Last week had "Kick, Pooh, kick." This week I find the line, "Daddy needs some yarn" turning over in my head.

Keep or kill?
We're going to be doing some housecleaning here at TV Club, sweeping out some shows that aren't living up to expectations to make room for new shows. Is this show worth our continued attention, in your opinion? Me, I like it well enough but it's looking a little more like standard issue network

George, you're not a voice in the wilderness here. My own list would have a little Universal, a little Lewton, and a little Hammer on there for sure and I'd fill it out with "scary" stuff like the Porky Pig Old Dark House parody and Walt Disney's "Skeleton Dance." And Herzog's NOSFERATU. Man, that's a creepy movie.

Agreed. SON is one of the most technically inventive pre-CITIZEN KANE films out there. And it makes YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN that much funnier.

When in doubt, assume Lovecraft did it first.

And it's this one, too. King, by his own admission, borrowed it.

Where the money went
I wouldn't say there was a drop in quality this week, but I did notice a drop in cinematicity. Okay, I just made that word up, but it felt less like an amazing movie that happened to be a TV series than a really good TV series that had some movie-like elements. But that's okay. It didn't feel like

Also, just so we're not totally OT, you're right about Peter David's run on The Hulk being strong. I'm really enjoying the reprint volumes.

Hey, check it out. We now have threaded comments. We can have discussions within discussions now. Fun!

Problems
Resident web genius Techmaster Mike has asked me to tell you that many of the problems you're having might be solved by hitting SHIFT while refreshing the page. And that's not just problems here. That's any sort of problem.

Dr. Who / Torchwood
I absolutely plan to cover Dr. Who when it airs here next year. I never watched the old series apart from some absolutely baffling ten-minute stretches on PBS when I was in high school. But I'm loving the new series. Most of the time, anyway.

Niles and ommissions
SINESTRO CORPS: I'm usually the one to cover such things and while I generally love Geoff Johns' stuff I never warmed to his Green Lantern. And I'm not sure why. But I hear this is good stuff so I'll try to catch up.

Kubrick and humanity
I certainly wouldn't characterize Kubrick as a thoroughgoing humanist, but 2001 is at least partially about humanity evolving and progressing to higher forms through innovation and reason. Sure, it begins in bloodshed, but by the end America and Russia are pals (barely thinkable in the Cold War)

Some clarifications
Pete The Meat's Facts: No, they're _all_ true. Busted.

Alexa
Davee: Actually, you can pretty much ignore the last couple of days on any given Alexa ratings graph. At least for our site it usually has us dropping off the face of the Earth or threatening to bump off Google. I don't know why. So, no connection.

We'll soon be adding some mild threading options so if you don't like a particular sub-topic you can skim right past it.
