Everybody Hates Chris
Is back.

Answer
In a word, no. We've had round after round of interns and I don't think any of them has seen their time at The A.V. Club as anything but great experience. One even got a full-time job with us out of it. What can I say? The conditions are clearly stated in the listing. It's an opportunity, not something we're

Almost…
"If no one was willing to do the work for free, the market would dictate having to pay them."

Found out
Okay, the "web project involving our archives" is actually arranging my collection of gold coins in such a way that I can easily bathe in them, ala Uncle Scrooge.

Shake It Off
I know what you mean. That song was getting in the way of me liking the album, even. I'd put it on and enjoy it until I hit that song, which made me think the whole album was a mess. It's not. It's lovely. It just has that one song that must be skipped. (Hmm… I smell an Inventory idea.)

CHILDREN OF MEN, etc.
I added the (not unanimously well received) restriction that the films had to be set within the decades they defined. CHINATOWN says as much about the Watergate era as NAHVILLE, to my eyes, but I wanted some clear parameters for narrowing down our choices and went with that one.

Odds?
Is anyone taking odds on Sly actually showing up?

Year Of The Dog
Someone requested a review of Year Of The Dog. And voila, We ran one when the movie came out:

Lexicondevil: Dayton?
That's my hometown. Well, a Dayton suburb anyway. When did you live there and where did you live?

L.A.
My fault. I've seen Short Cuts more recently than I've read Carver and got confused.

My favorite Rivers moment
A couple of years ago she asked Imelda Staunton if she got to meet Vera Drake or if she was dead. Staunton's response was something like, "No, dear. She's a fictional character."

Nobody asked but…
I vote for more "J—-"-style posts and fewer "Whatever Asshat"-style posts. If you're not hyperbollically enthusiastic about pop culture you're on the wrong site.

Films That TIme Forgot
It's taking a little break. It'll be back again some day in some form or another.

Spoilers
I swear I added a spoiler warning. It's in there now.

And by Lincoln I of course mean….
Linkin. I apologize for the error.

Much on grades. Not so much on Scaggs. A little on Melcher
I think part of the problem we run into with music grades—if you consider it a problem—comes from the fact that we only review five or six albums a week. Naturally we're going to gravitate toward material that already interests us and material that already

Advertising / Venture Brothers
Venture Brothers first: You don't need to sell me on that show. I didn't catch up with it until Season 2 but, wow, do I love it. So funny. And the more you watch it (or maybe it's just the more I watch it) the more poignant it gets.

The End
Actually, Tasha, both versions are available on the DVD. One's on one side and the other's on the other.

stmonday
I actually agree with you about everything you said about Welcome Interstate Managers… That album's a stone classic in my book.

Soul Sides, Fields
Soul Sides: Love that blog. Wang does a great job and makes me want to dig deeper and deeper into the music I love.
