Self-indulgent side note
I was there in '94 and there's crowd footage from two shows I attended: Nick Cave and Bjork. I couldn't pick myself out of the crowd, however. Highlight of the whole fest: Johhny Cash. This was right after the first "American Recordings' album came out and probably the biggest audience he'd

Jeff "Skunk" Baxter
Crosstalk: Is Jeff "Skunk" Baxter a better musician or a defense consultant?

Correction
My colleague, Nathan Rabin, has informed me that Gore did not actually get an Oscar. Well, nevermind. But Nathan also pointed out that Phil Collns and Three Six Mafia do have Oscars.

Update
Wait… I think Clint Eastwood is just making up what he thinks Morricone is saying. Anyone out there speak Italian?

Degeneres' slip
She mentioned Cruz in the context of Mexican filmmakers. She's from Spain. She later apologized for it and made a joke of it.

Borat
It's adapted because the character was created for the TV show.

Not on eMusic
Okay, I was wrong about that.

Mo' Morricone
Just a few thoughts on the comments:

Montenegro
It's the Morricone version in the film, but it was the Montenegro one that was a Top 40 hit. Maybe I'm just showing my age. But growing up it was the Montenegro one that played on the AM oldies stations. I suppose the original has supplanted it (resupplanted it?) now.

The Wiz, high school style
Kidd Video, did you and I go to the same high school? Our version had a great Dorothy and then a bunch of, well, underqualified white kids.

BBC vs. Channel 4
Sorry. My fault. It airs on BBC America here so I got confused. We don't really know the difference over here anyway. It's all BBC to us.

The film that shall not be named
It's a quirk in the code that if we talk about M__h____r more than five times in one week the site will shut down. Also, the sky will turn purple and nearby aircraft will be downed on mysterious islands.

Jude.
I'm going to reserve judgment on all of these because, well, I have to. But the protagonist's name is really Jude? May I point out that the film version of SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND had a character named "Strawberry Fields."

By this logic…
By this logic the wide accalim of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA means the world of IDIOCRACY is just around the corner.

Lost and more
Weird thing is, LOST started to renew my faith in the show with its mini-season last fall. I appreciated the tight focus on a few characters, which I though undid some of the damage of last season's bloat. (Hey meet the tailies… They're really important. Wait, no they're all dead. Sorry!)

Dissent
Whether or not this was actually a worthy subject of Hateration (TM) was a topic of some discussion on this morning's conference call. Some of us found it pretty funny. Let's hear some dissent from those folks.

Editing
As someone who owns a dog and a cat, it occurred to me this year that the Puppy Bowl segments could essentially be filmed in real time. But the Kitty Halftme Show was probably the product of hours of work, coaxing the kittens out in the open, reassuring them that the lights weren't their enemies, familiarizing

Mapasaurus
Does anyone know who the band was in that commercial?

In defense of Patrick Warbuton, Cyndi Lauper
Not that Warburton needs defending, but my experiences is that he makes everything better, live action or voiceover. Especially the great-by-any-standards VENTURE BROTHERS, on the latter front. Also, if anyone doubts the guy can't carry a movie, check out THE WOMAN CHASER,
