The guy can be two things. He can create certain great female characters, but it doesn't necessarily make him infallible, or alter that there are some troubling undercurrents in his work that surface sometimes (eg. Tony Stark making a rape joke in Age of Ultron).

This seems pretty tame- it gives him the benefit of the doubt for these being first draft stuff. At the same time, he's held up- rightly or wrongly- as this sort of scion of feminist genre writing. He's fair game.

Agreed.

It might have been fun if Dr. Poison turned out to be Ares.

I actually think that works, as it makes the moment where he's trying to steer her the hardest, but she just goes full-Wonder Woman (No Mans Land) punch even harder. Plus we get that moment where he tries again in the party and she levels that hardcore look at him and says "What I do is not up to you"

I was initially leery, but I think it's a solid article. Caroline obvs. likes the movie, she's just pointing out some interesting issues. As we love to say here, Wonder Woman can be two things.

Leave Cletus alone Wilbur!

Although the title of the article made me worry it was going to be a contrarian hatchet job, as soon as I saw Caroline Siede in the byline I knew this was going to be thoughtful and insightful- and it was. WW is awesome in my book, but it's true— why CAN'T Diana have a stronger connection with either her mother or

I'd say they're cut rate. I prefer my Asgardians to be actually Gods, I think that's one of the most interesting aspects of them. Loki is certainly much more interesting, when there's a lingering question of how much agency he actually HAS, as the literal God of Mischief. CAN he be good? Or is it within his vary

Apparently Kasdan wasn't a fan of their characterization of Solo either. These guys are great, but if push-comes-to-shove, I'm siding with the guy who wrote fucking Empire.

Maybe originally, but different writers certainly play it differently. The JMS run on Thor is 100% Magic and Mysticism, with characters like Loki being the actual embodiment of the traits they represent as capital-G Gods. Rather than just a bunch of ancient aliens.

Fuck Yes. I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

Seeing as Cap is now a literal Nazi, maybe he knew something we didn't lol.

I think we need to blame South Park. They may not have come up with the phrase, but they had a whole episode based around how Crystal Skull literally showed George Lucas and Spielberg raping Indiana Jones. Yeah… pretty fucking tasteless.

Maybe because fuck the fans? The guy wants to make a good Blade Runner movie, so he gets to make it.

Comics do it all the time, I'm confident that a change of direction can work.

They're sexualized organs, if not sex organs, and are almost always presented in a sexuualized setting. Otherwise, I've seen a number of vaginas on HBO. And maybe 2 flaccid dicks (not exaggerating). Whereas American Gods and Spartacus have shown lots of each.

I'll always hate Ellis for his issue of Secret Avengers where he says all the magic in the Marvel U is just science, and then Kevin Feige agreed with it and made The Asgardians cut-rate-Kryptonians, and Dr Strange not even magic.

I believe your judgement Mrs L. A. but I am NOT going through s1/2 of the Leftovers to get to the "good bits"

Seriously, how many dicks-to-female-genitalia have you seen on HBO. Because the ratio is like 1-to-1500000
