No it ISN'T so fundamental to the character. People just keep repeating that over and over again to make themselves feel better.

I think Pedro Pascal was also in the mix for a while.
Which would have been awesome.
I think it's basically a case of "Okay, you can tell this story, but you have to write it well and actually bring something to the table regarding the racial issues at play." Which is a legitimate argument. It's like how Louis CK can make certain jokes but come out with no-one thinking he's racist in any way shape or…
Or who also has no apparent acting ability. He was terrible on Game of Thrones.
"He didn't kill anyone but criminals!"
Chekov's Minigun.
I like it too, but every time I see DB's suit it hurts. Like, okay if you want to go for a comicey armour suit, but dont make it out of FUCKING FELT and try to make me think it's bullet proof. They could have at least gone for something like the ATOM suit from the CW. Still a bit goofy, but clearly an exoskeleton that…
Well the Punisher is an inherently fucking insane character who is a domestic terrorist, but who keep trying to make into a superhero.
I feel bad for the AoS fans. One of the few times being a Marvel property hurts is on TV, as if it was DC the CW probably WOULD pick it up and then you'd get like 3-4 more seasons.
You don't even need to CGI. Hollywood has been doing effective stunt work with less for decades. The ability to cover the upper half of the actor's face is a HUGE boon. Just film it correctly, get a few shots that are clearly the lead in the mask, use effective fight/stunt editing for the rest and you're golden.
Part of the joke is Iron Fist HAS a mask that covers the upper half of his face in the comics (like DD in S1) so they could have EASILY replaced him with a stuntman, as I assume they did for a lot of the fights in DD.
Particularly as they didn't seem to cast Finn Jones for acting ability, so he can neither act NOR fight. FUCKING GREAT
I'd fire Finn too. The guy can't fucking act.
This. Iron Fist should ideally have more in common with the CW superhero shows (minus the romantic angst/lying) in terms of their willingness to globe-trot, go-for-broke with insane concepts (Giant ATOM, Dinosaurs, Aliens, Speed Force, etc) and their bright, fun, colourful heroes who can ALSO grapple with serious…
That's because their mystical elements sucked. All it was was a bunch of Ninja's and whatever the fuck "Black Sky" was. Okay?
Also any talk of "budgetary constraints" are bullshit. The CW superhero shows have probably 2/3rds the budget and have to do twice as many episodes, but they manage to show Gorilla Cities, Tyrannasours, Giant Ray Palmers, and all sorts of other shit on a TV budget. Does it look goofy sometimes? Yes, but so what?…
YES! THIS!
Exactly— he spent 10 years raised as a warrior in a hidden magical city. I love the idea of him being good natured to his core, but also wildly naive to the realities of the world- stuff that Luke could call him on and Danny'd realize how wrong he was. Then occasionally Luke would be in trouble and Danny'd make some…
I'd also have had Danny get his fortune back, and then immediately say "Okay, I'm giving it all to charity". He's a fucking enlightened martial artists, what does he care about worldly possessions? It'd be such a great WTF moment.
