Every time Jessica Williams gets a piece, my husband and I perk up and pay more attention. She's really become a standout.

Let me tease out two aspects further from my post:
Poussey, please, Poussey.
You know, this exact point has been bothering me ever since I saw the episode — I was even surprised that Piper got so mad at Larry. I think I just now got why Claudette and Suzanne got so angry at Piper:
I was going to make a point elsewhere about how Card hasn't written anything good since 2000 and thus can't be defended because he's making art, but then I looked it up and realized his son died that year, and I felt too bad to continue.
I mean, seriously, Card's a science fiction writer. That's *genre fiction*. He's seriously got no leg to stand on in the "not working for a living" stakes.
I thought so too! It was the sweetest relationship Ender had in Battle School. I definitely would read fanfic about them. Especially if it were written by @avclub-c1fe85b855c6d045b827f74a1e2c3fd7:disqus .
Thanks, @Scrawler2:disqus ! Also, @olivececile:disqus picked up on something that's really, really important — imagining two men being vulnerable together is a really salient aspect of slashfic. Or seeing tough characters in general being vulnerable. Maybe this is the wish fulfillment aspect? Maybe it's fantasy? But I…
@avclub-7a5a3fe4ae33de425d06ac4fe8d097d2:disqus - Why do straight men like lesbian porn? Take the answer and genderswap.
@avclub-8f279c77c332ff9a8c080e916cd21063:disqus - Not coincidentally, when the show started focusing on and deepening the non-Walt characters was also when the show went from "it's pretty good, but Bryan Cranston the only real reason to be watching," to "whoa, this is one of the best shows on TV, go watch it."
Well, he wasn't a name enough to be Bond until recently, but it's still a fan hope, not something that's being suggested internally.
No, Idris Elba is wrong for the Doctor. Idris Elba is cool. The Doctor is not cool. This is terrible casting.
Oh please can they do that, because I'm utterly sick of how they write female companions on the show.
I took it as, she was too intimidating for boys to want to be friends with her, or more. It's not that she isn't pretty, it's that she doesn't fit into the prescribed role for girls/females — and the first guy who made her feel like she belonged was a petty criminal who got her caught.
My husband consciously started growing a beard because he was inspired by Riker's. It totally works.
I thought the same thing about Lauren Lapkus and Kristen Schaal. I think it's their eyes — I could see them playing sisters easily.
No…still pathetic, even if there's only one.
Did anyone else cheer out loud at that point?
@avclub-330e1ecc0a25a73f7a255cc57f8129b7:disqus - Different hair style + the way she carried herself made her seem older. It was a phenomenal job on the part of the actress. She might have also just been transferred to this prison from another one.
@avclub-5470317571e6488699c5096861915107:disqus - But at the same time, a) Larry didn't know (or care) that people in the prison would be listening to his story, b) at that point in the series Piper's social circle is not his prime concern, and c) most brilliantly, everything Larry said was true, and true from Piper's…
