Ben Davis is a great drummer (although he's probably even better as a frontman), growing up in NC I saw Milemarker so many times that the records were kind of redundant. Ben Davis setting his cymbals on fire was one of the coolest/scariest moments I've seen at a show.

I never really liked Engine Down
But I fucking loved Maximillian Colby, 400 Years, Sleepytime Trio and the rest of the early Lovitt roster.

Torchwood? Does this mean I can hope for Doctor Who joining TV Club?

She & Him
Zooey Deschanel was smart about how she handled her music career - she hooked up with a respected indie musician, signed to a respected indie label, and kind of kept expectations low otherwise (it probably also helps that it's not called 'The Zooey Deschanel Band' or something). The album isn't great, but

Ladies & Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones
Still the best Stones concert film, it's a shame that it's not (legitimately) available.

I wonder what these guys do…
When something is a surprise phenomenon? Like, do you just wait and put Juno jokes in the next movie, or do you risk it all on movies that nobody's even seen yet? What if "The Love Guru" bombs? What if you build your whole movie around the characters from "Semi-Pro"?

The funniest part of this is that NBC gave them another season to wrap it up but evidently the writers of Scrubs have an endless fountain of lovable crankiness, boring dream sequences and sanctimonious moralizing to give to the world.

Crusoe
I hear this series is a fresh take on the old Robinson Crusoe story - he's stranded on an island and all sorts of mystifying events start happening - sentient clouds of smoke, polar bears, that guy who played one of the hobbits in Lord of the Rings.

Great Interview, but…
It's a shame that Kimberly Peirce doesn't seem to have any influence over how MTV is marketing her film…at least I hope she doesn't, given how terrible the trailers and commercials look. If I hadn't read this, there's no way in hell that I would have considered seeing this movie.

GET IT RIGHT OR PAY THE PRICE
Everybody knows that Jealous Again was with Chavo, get it straight Mould (no pun intended).

I'm a believer
I was never a Silver Mt. Zion fan before this album (I always thought they sounded like GYBE Jr., which they kind of were), but this album is heavy and awesome. I'm glad to see someone in the GYBE is moving forward.

Thor
I never thought I would be saying this about a J. Michael Straczynski series, but the new Thor book is incredible, in no small part because Straczynski is taking his sweet time with it. Oliver Coipel's art is gorgeous as well.

Let me guess…
Basically the same bands that are playing every festival this summer? Don't get me wrong, these things can be fun but if more and more festivals keep popping up it's going to be the same lineup at each one. At least All Points West has Radiohead playing twice over the weekend, which is kind of cool.

the musical porno adaptation of Cinderella…
I don't know anything about this but perhaps the person asking the question was thinking about the x-rated musical version of Alice in Wonderland (which coincidentally came out on DVD not too long ago)?

"Quarterlife"
So these people are expecting to live to the ripe old age of 100?

Song of the South is also not nearly as offensive as its reputation would lead you to believe - it's definitely racially offensive, but Warner Brothers has been releasing cartoons that are just as offensive on their "Golden Collection" sets for a few years now.

Disney just announced that they'll be releasing Destino, the Dali/Disney collaboration that was unfinished until 2003 on DVD this fall, evidently the DVD is going to have a documentary about all the aborted Disney projects over the years. At least it sounds more interesting than like "Hannah Montana reinterprets a

Justin Vernon…
is a talented songwriter and seems like a nice guy but he's one of the most boring interviewees ever. Not that that's really his fault (or Steven Hyden's fault) or anything, but Bon Iver is suddenly everywhere right now and everyone wants to fill their interview asking him about recording his album in a

Dragon Dynasty's subtitles…
have been consistently horrible since the line began. I know Hard Boiled's subtitles were actually just a transcription of the English dub, and I'm assuming that most of the other titles use the same cost-cutting maneuver. It's a shame too, since the Weinsteins have released some quality
