Rick says himself that he's been driving for an hour on empty.  Then he forces everyone to camp outside in the middle of nowhere, after someone inexplicably says "we can't all fit in one car", when OF COURSE YOU JAM YOURSELVES INTO ONE CAR…

I would advise against re-watching TWD.  I imagine it's the kind of show that would get worse with a rewatch.
