I'm with you on that one.  Great story, lousy writing. At least it set me up for Twain's parody/slapdown of Cooper's style.  I hope you have seen that.

Good description!  …"Lee Hazlewood vibe"… I will now go listen to Saves The Day (unfamiliar with that song) since I also live in Michigan, and because El Condor Pasa was an inspired choice.

Just watched the restored Casablanca and could not ignore the unfinished drinks.  It might make a good drinking game, but I'd never last to the final scene.

Got to disagree on one point: "the inside humor for adults to smirk at" is really a Dreamworks Animation thing.  Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, Shark Tale…  Pixar has far less of that than the competition does.

Or Canadian, in this case. Wait, Canadien?

Don't ever change, Golspie, even when you have to change names!  I hope you have a blog somewhere that I chance upon some day.

As a Brian Eno fan since 1972, I totally agree that Todd is just as important.

Me too, for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.  I love their version of Bowie's Memory of a Free Festival.

Agreed, China.  My daughter introduced me to her stuff, so I taught her to play some of her stuff on autoharp.  Great voice, strong melodic sense, compelling lyrics…

Go to it, PJ.  Sincerely is (sincerely) a power pop masterpiece on par with Big Star.

Sorry I'm so late to the party; I assumed I wouldn't know any of the bands.  Twilley was great, and I'm glad to see the video posted up here.  For my money, "Sincerely" = "You Get What You Deserve" in the Melancholy Way to End a Vinyl Side A Category.
