A coworker saw this over the weekend, and yesterday informed us it is the funniest movie. It is so great. It took a Herculean amount of restraint not to make a shitty comment about Kevin James, Mall Cop, King of Queens, Grownups, I Now Pronounce You Gay Panic Jokes, etc.

Were the 'Vern' commercials national? I thought they were for Braum's, which is an Oklahoma-based, regional chain. My understanding was that Varney was a truck driver for Braum's, and kind of fell into the job.

And Ged barely spends any time at the school over the course of the trilogy, relatively speaking. In Harry Potter, Hogwarts is pretty much a main character in its own right. Also, LeGuin's writing style is much more impressionistic and expository. I never thought there was really much comparison, outside of the basic

I fell asleep on the couch while watching it, and I was actually excited to see what they did with it.

Yeah, that's weird… I was thinking about getting more of her stuff the other day, too. I've read quite a few of these, but Left Hand of Darkness isn't one of them.

I think it was deliberate on Obama's part. He didn't want to come across as condescending and dismissive, but he also didn't want to come across as seeing Romney as a real threat. So he took it easy and let Romney do all the heavy lifting.
What annoys me is the expectations game the pundits play. The expectations were
