Anthony Bourdain complaining about hipsters is like Lena Dunham complaining about overprivileged millennials.

The Layover is an immensely useful show.

Honestly, I hope he has the dignity to make a pithy comment and move on. I'm so fucking sick of these bullshit feuds.

It was an acceptable form of discourse among people who mattered. Unfortunately, we're exposed to everyone else now.

The LA episode had critical darling chefs who only make street food!

I think there's a reasonable difference between being willing to kill the animal and accepting that what you eat involves the killing of animals.

Sir, are you a counterrevolutionary?

Oh, she's completely right. It's the same mentality that fundamentalist Christians have had for decades, where agreeing with a film is the most important thing, and enjoyment has no relevance whatsoever.

Most of the people vocalizing this problem most loudly are generally younger than us. They genuinely don't remember a time before political or semantic disagreement was not grounds to reject someone's input entirely.

I don't understand why these places haven't gone the Vox route and just gotten rid of comments. With the rare exception of pointing out technical errors in an article, they don't have much use.

That exactly what not caring means.

In what will be my final AV Comment, I highly encourage you to read the Cracked article on this movie's effects, then try hard as you can to stop there.

Yeah but being 99% doesn't make you the root of all evil, either. I'd appreciate a little more understanding as I try to be understanding myself. But I think those days are over. The AVClub comments have become just like every other comment section. I quit.

ONLY ZUUL.

Yeah, all those slurs that Jerry Seinfeld likes to throw out…

You're kind of proving my point. I'm on your side, yet everyone just wants to bash to feel superior.

That's like saying my mom doesn't care, even though she's an extremely fair-minded person, because she doesn't constantly raise hell and attack her friends for being traitors 24 hours a day.

No, just that a lot of people care that other people think they care more than they actually care. Those are the people who are always looking for a fight.

The Jews just won't give Jerry Seinfeld a break.

It's not the "caring about how others are treated" that's obnoxious. It's the "elevating the appearance of concern to an abstract artform to make it all about themselves."
