Work of Art was one of the most entertaining reality shows I watched last year, and it also received solid ratings, a second season renewal, and praise from EW, TV Guide, and The AV Club. Poorly received where now?

Love & Monsters was the first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw, and it is a surprisingly great introduction to the series.

Don't Say His Name!
Weird to see last season referred to as a "disaster," as that was actually my favorite season of the show, and the first in ages where I felt invested in some of the contestants. Oh well, to each his own.

Divergent is getting a VERY big marketing push, which is all it takes to be popular now days. I think one reason YA doesn't get much respect is because the most popular YA books — Twilight, Hunger Games, etc — aren't actually very good. Talented YA authors like John Green and David Levithan don't get the same

I actually thought this movie was pretty good, and therefore not deserving of this feature. Granted it's not as great as the book, but that's to be expected when you're dealing with the horror of killer vines.

More David and Maddie, Please
I've always wished Castle was more like Moonlighting, as they have the same basic setup: fun, flighty, slightly immature man solving mysteries with a more uptight, self-serious woman. But alas, the writing on Castle isn't anywhere near the writing on Moonlighting, so it just kind of lays

OTH, My Old Nemesis
I used to recap this show weekly for a TV website I worked at (call me, AV Club!), and while it is absolutely atrocious, I really enjoyed when they'd go into full-on crazy soap territory. Dan was always cooking up some awesome scheme or another, and even when he wasn't you had bizarre episodes like

To be fair, Clark Kent's disguise is completely ridiculous anyway. But they obviously didn't put him in glasses because guys in glasses aren't WB-ready dreamboats. They are NERDS.

It kind of reminded me of the Amnesia Bullet from the end of that beloved cinematic classic, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Except this time it was Amnesia Blood.

Yikes
I'll admit to not being a Smallville watcher, but I tuned in last night because I was kind of drunk, and this seems like a show to watch when you're half in the bag. Has Smallville always had the production values of Charmed mixed with the acting talent of a Syfy Original Movie?

Julie Plec addressed the human blood thing in this here EW interview:

Anna Is Back!
I'm so excited to see Anna return. I admit I was never too into Vicky, possibly because she was on the show during its not-very-good-yet early episodes, so I didn't even recognize her when she showed up on screen.

I completely agree. I have trouble getting people to tune into this show because of its name/network/whatever, which is completely ridiculous. I don't think it's a stretch to say this is the best genre show on network TV aside from Fringe, and yet tons of people are missing out due to general snobbery.

Sean's About Right
Definitely a C-level episode, but parts of it really worked for me, including the Royal Wedding ridiculousness mentioned in the recap. And sorry, but the Kraft Dinner jokes made me laugh harder than anything in the episode. "Fe Fi Fo Fum, I smell KRAFT DINNER" was so uniquely Canadian that it killed

Shawn Ryan's big mistake was teaming up with Cancellation King Tim Minear. He should know better.

I think canceling a bunch of shows with terrible ratings is actually the opposite of a bad business decision.

Here We Go Again
The issue with Dexter is also one of my big concerns about Justified: how long can a show stay good when you have a dearth of interesting supporting characters? If Dexter is any indication, the answer is not very long.

I'm totally with ya, Prole Hole. While I've watched many of my fellow gays succumb to Gaga madness, I can't do it because her music is so bland and uninspired. All the flashy performances in the world can't make up for that.

I think season 1 plays like very subpar X-Files, at least until the last few episodes. I guess it could have a certain charm, but the MOTW stuff has been done much better elsewhere.

Season Rankings
I'd go: 4 > 3 > 2 > 5 > 6 > 1.
