You guys know that Mel Gibson is actually a good director, right? None less than Tarantino listed his last two films, both The Passion of The Christ and Apocolypto, on one of his "best films of the decade" lists, citing their visual storytelling as better than just about anything since films started to use sound. My favourite part of the original interview that was linked to was D.C.'s response to Pattinson's claim that he's not buff enough to play a superhero. "Rob, it's okay. They put you in a funny suit. You don't have to be buff."

I don't see any downside with Videodrome. Mid-film, a fella could lean over, as Max Renner pulls a hand-gun out of his stomach-vagina, and whisper, "Hey there sexy."

Surprised as I am to find out that Edmund Wilson has not already read DeLillo, I'll say that I've been disappointed by all non-White Noise DeLillo, though that hasn't stopped me from reading some others trying to rediscover that initial rush.

It's a movie about a killer shark. Around these boards, it's verboten to say that you don't like something just on the basis of stupid subject (i.e., that's not an aesthetic statement, but more of a priggish moral reason for not liking a work of ostensible art), but it's hard. Again, it's a movie about a killer shark.

Did anyone else here see Jaws only after becoming an adult? I'm sure it's a great movie. Anyway, I liked it better than E.T. as an adult. I just wonder if anyone else here may have missed out on some aspects of the A.V. childhood and thus, like me, can't quite understand the awesomeness that probably is Jaws.

And yet, a mere 18 minutes later, Todd VanDerWolfman already has 2 LIKES. What now, alternativos?
