I would mention how insensitive this is to say about a warrior princess, but on the other hand this whole discussion has been going on without her input since the late '90s. So carry on.

I tried to thank you for the link earlier, but for some reason (there were no swears or anything!) my comment got pulled. So: nice link, I say. That link had another interesting one nested within it, which can be read here, a celebration of the work of editor Robert Gottlieb, which has drop-ins by such a diverse cast…
Thanks for the link. That link linked to another link with a very interesting Paris Review interview that's a veritable Who's Who of authors singing the praises of Robert Gottlieb, the noted editor. Joe Heller, Toni Morrison, John le Carre, and Michael Crichton all show up. It's long, though—be warned.
@GhaleonQ:disqus , at other places on these boards, you've been sort of snippy toward atheism, too, so I guess I should flesh out my rather cryptic and possibly mean statement above.
(Careful, Bender…you're responding to a guy whose use of "we" has its antecedent as "Far-Right Christians")
Hard to say, but that Man on a Ledge one sounds pretty tricky.
That's what I love about these high school girls, man—oh wait, wrong thread.
Wow, dude. I sleep-talk some, but (my wife tells me) it's mostly confined to claiming very forcefully that I'm very tired and do not wish to awake.
I watched an entire season of Dollhouse on a Friday night when I was feeling overworked and lonely and depressed, and I thought it was kind of lame but nonetheless exactly what I needed just then. Sometimes art appreciation is contextual like that.
Yes, I think I did prefer Ordinary People, now that you mention it, though since it deals with things like "family" and "grief" instead of "lust" and "violence" I guess it sucks, now.

"Wow, a buffet made of light? IS THAT A PHYSICS THING?!"
Dawkins/Krauss are coming to Arizona in a few weeks, and I'm thinking of going. I will not be going, however, to the pre-show meet/greet, which I got an invitation for as a part of the local atheists group, since tickets for that run $500 per person, or $750 for a couple.
I know, right? The Illuminati do exist!
I'm sure you already know this, but many of his old books of articles are awesomely good. My favourite is Bad Habits: a 100% Fact-Free Book, which reminds me that the man really won his Pulitzer, back when.
"It sounds like bullshit, but it could be science! Therefore we aren't quite qualified to…ah what the hell. Give it a B."
Dickens heavily re-worked his books for publication in bound form. I would argue that there are plenty of long-form TV shows that would be better with hindsight-enabled trimming, too, but I'm aware that that's way too much to ask for.
I am having that BSG problem right now. Oh my Gods.
SPOILER. Apparently someone was able to love the story of how the kid with a deformed arm fucked all the MILFs in eastern-Europe, then. Interesting.
Nicole Krauss a transsexual? Pics or it didn't happen, bro.
