But Terriers was basically canned after it was done with its season. And it was canned for lack of ratings, probably due to the shitty promotion and probably the dumb title.
I don't know why this particular program signals the death of quality tv programming. "kill the golden age"? Really? You make a lot of interesting points about the modern age of programming, dvds, and internet program streaming. But it's not really a harbinger of doom that you seem to found the article on.
I knew the same thing when I saw it on the home page. All of his articles seem to decry some assumption stretching hyperbole in the very title! At first, I usually eye-roll, but then it DRAWS ME IN.
When contrasting it with his father, John at least had a pretty narrow goal. He wanted to play ball, and he dedicated himself to it. If there is a good example of a rational choice, it's that one. Maybe it wouldn't have worked, but it did. He didn't make the choice not to go to college out of ambivalence at least. He…
Why would he be singing Imagine and burning books?
Why would Ted Nugent ever sing Imagine?
She won me over during the Oscar telecast a few years ago when they were showing clips of the Best Actress nominees, and they showed a clip of her from the second Elizabeth movie where she was yelling at the top of her lungs with a really pained expression on her face. The camera cuts back to her in the audience,…
You complete me.
I always kind of thought that the Goode family was Judge's reaction to the combination hipster/enviro-yuppie spectacle that is South Congress in Austin (although not limited to that area). For all the points noted that Judge's references seemed dated, or that the setting didn't seem realistic, just a short drive down…
I don't know if anime is the best way to get into Japanese culture…. the least western stuff is probably the most insane… like FLCL probably… or else crazy stereotypical…
It's on Hulu (under the title "Mongolian Chop Squad"), but I'm not sure if it's the whole thing or partial and if any on Hulu Plus.
In addition to the Bebop and BaccanoI had also mentioned previously. My other favorite anime is Beck. Nothing supernatural or sci-fi about it, just about a kid in high school with dreams of being in a band. I've watched it more than Baccano.
Best way to jump in probably. That 2005 season is a good contained 1 season Doctor, and it gets you right into it.
The Bebop was what I thought of when I read his blurb. It's kind of an outlier as far as most anime goes, more Western in the structure and dialogue of it. But it's a great one to jump into. Not too long, only one season of 26 25-minute eps, and the movie.

Fun Bugle moment - I enjoyed Andy's recitation of the Gettysburg address using a Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln impression, which is basically a soft-toned, high-pitched Irish drunkard.
A couple of really good Kingpin stories about Murray.
You should email them about that.
Supernatural.
