Congratulations! Back at ya!

I'm reading my friend's book about the class subtext to American foodie culture right now (halfway through, pretty good), and to say she's critical of BMI is putting it mildly; one example features Olympic track star Christine Ohoruogu, who's classified as "overweight" despite having essentially no body fat.

"Go see Turner; he's been waiting for you. He's been waiting a long, long time. You must be polite." One of the most memorable parts of one of the most memorable movies. RIP.

I had work, but made a few signs for a friend who was going to the counterprotest in Lansing. Got a message from her last night saying everything went well, which was a relief (she's working on getting more politically involved, which is nice to see).

Gal Gadot still isn't that great of an actress, but she acts well on the setting itself. She knows her limitations and does her best under those limitations.

She's awesome; it was weird finally catching up with one of those movies about Entebbe and seeing her as this German terrorist who was fairly obviously intended as some kind of Nazi stand-in.

The climax of Khan is one of the few cinematic moments that can reliably have me tearing up like clockwork (or at least thinking about it).

The Mummy was easily the worst trailer I saw before seeing Wonder Woman, and there was one of those "lots of superheroes together movies" in there, which says a lot.

I picked up the first volume of Earth One at my LCS; good stuff and an enjoyable way to get into the character's world, reboot though it looks. Like AM, I'm increasingly on the lookout for good WW stories (especially after seeing the movie) and hope to explore that world further.

We're finally getting into the 90s this weekend, and it looks like 80s or up all of next week.

Better than usual recently; saw WW this weekend and picked up Earth One's first volume at my LCS (along with complimentary WW comics for Wonder Woman Day; one a standard DC issue and the other from a kids' series portraying various female DC characters in a high school setting). Hopefully finally getting into position

I hear ya. My dream job (one from, say, 9 to 5 or 10 to 6) would likely obliterate my participation in the TI/RD, welcome though it would probably be in certain quarters. Congratulations!

I wish I had advice to give, CM; if there hadn't been so many memories and so much time invested, I'd say "when it feels right for you" but with that and the question of kids… this one's out of my league. Co-signing the need for eventual communication, though. Wishing you the best regardless and hoping things work out

We'll be just south of Door County; maybe one day I'll be in your neck of the woods, but not this August, I fear (I hear the art museum's awesome).

I miss Xenu. Maybe he'll show up.

Until this weekend, I didn't even know this was a thing, let alone soon to hit theaters. It was one of the trailers before that evening's showing of Wonder Woman and elicited a few mild groans here and there throughout the audience. My favorite trailer moment that night was when the guy behind me said "Brendan Fraser

Between this and Comey, I really should have switched yesterday with my co-worker.

Dammit, I wish I'd seen this before I replied to Zach and Coke, as this was more or less my own finding as well. And that's leaving out the whole Genghis Khan ancestry factoid (which didn't come up in my research but which wouldn't surprise me).

No, not at all; that's precisely my issue. It's especially silly when you find that, once you reach a certain level of aristocratic ancestry, everybody is pretty much related to everyone else in that class (or seems to be). I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about this stuff, and I was very surprised at the levels
