I really need to watch this again. I've been catching up with Dark Horse Comics' Conan trades the last year or so (especially the Belit storyline) and it'd be interesting to revisit what's still probably the main pop-cultural image of Conan as it exists today. And Mako's always awesome.

I'll be interested in the responses. I just write as clearly as I can on Canson sketch paper with Pigma archival ink pens and use different widths for emphasized words (then scan). Inching closer and closer to trying this out all digital, though I foresee much experimentation.

I was never an especial fan of Cornell's music (though I wasn't really the reverse, either) but reading about it on the AVC yesterday really helped put a lot of things in perspective given my gloom of the past few days. I mean, I was nowhere remotely near any kind of precipice, but a lot of the problems were still of

Roberts's panels in Sunburning make me feel so much better about my own. Hers are still straighter, but I feel a little less self-conscious about never getting the proportion exactly right.

Not exactly the same thing, but I wound up with an original copy of Bill Mauldin's Up Front (which I still own) and there were a whole bunch of newspaper and magazine clippings on Mauldin from 1945-47 hiding under the back cover. I really ought to make sure I still have 'em all.

Sally Hawkins will be returning for King Of The Monsters, reprising her role from Edwards’ film as Dr. Vivienne Graham….. The movie will also connect to Kong: Skull Island in some way, setting up a future Godzilla Vs. Kong movie.

Horizon #11: Though the specifics of the story often elude me, the general idea's strong enough that I don't really care (yet), and the art's off-putting in a way that strengthens the overall feel of the work, so that's good.

The Drink and Draws my LCS puts on have been a blast, especially the last one. Hopefully there'll be more of this stuff in future.

So-so. The date went okay (or seemed to), but I tried to connect a couple of days later and found she'd deleted her OKC account. Texted her just in case and finally got a message back Wednesday saying it had been nice to meet me but that she didn't think we were a good fit. Given how on the fence I was for various

I still like it. There's lots of natural beauty, it really gets under my skin in ways Ohio never did and, if you have a car, it's convenient for Chicago, Canada, the Lakes… and the beer.

I still don't know why I don't own it on DVD; great action, clever setting of the initial legend to scan more closely than usual with its origins, a fantastic romantic pairing, L.Q. Jones, and Stuart Wilson (who's one of my main Random Roles white whales) giving a villainous turn practically as entertaining as his

One of the ladies from last year that I really liked did just that (admittedly after I messaged her to tell her what a lovely time I had). Sucked, but it was gotten over with and my respect for her increased tenfold. I can kind of understand why people ghost, but I'd far prefer a straight "let's be friends/nothing"

Happy Birthday!

That's awful; I'm glad you're leaving.

Major sympathy upvote.

You have my very best wishes. Our situations aren't exactly the same, but I just "celebrated" nine years at this job last week, and, while I have a really decent gig for the restaurant industry (decent pay, generous PTO, health insurance), the place has started to pall a little for various reasons (and, though I'm not

(I shit on Funeral now in hindsight that it's the same song 10 times over, but this song fucking rips)

Agreed; I mean, I had my own (she messaged me back in February, I was going through an extended period of gloom at the time and didn't message back, so this whole thing was a shot in the dark), so trying not to take it too personally (and more or less succeeding).

I don't have any plans to move in the near or even intermediate future, but my brother's moved to DC (and my SIL's following once the baby comes), I have an old friend from Louisiana living nearby, a friend of mine from Michigan lives there now with his young family, I hear nothing but good non-Roethlisberger things…

Is that the one with "Stone Animals"? That was glorious; reminded me a lot of Nigel Kneale's "During Barty's Party" from his Beasts series.
