I think it was less of tactical decision and more of "This is the only direction I can go in that doesn't have lava in the way".

That's not actually true; it's used exclusively for people with two non-magical parents.
They weren't able to capture her because she had already been captured. Ghazan reported it back to Zaheer in his cave; they were probably close enough to see it happen.
That's a very interesting take on it. I wouldn't be shocked if it's not something the writers are intentionally doing, but those are some very nice conclusions nonetheless.
If they ran then Ghazan and Ming-Hua would have been right on Asami's trail. Yeah, she's on Naga, but that doesn't guarantee that she'd be able to outrun them.
I agree that it was hopeless standing their ground, but I don't think a tactical retreat would have worked; Ghazan and Ming-Hua both saw Asami escape with Korra. I think what we had was a much less evenly-matched "You shall not pass!" type situation.

I agree, but I've seen him less as an actual communist and more as a communist analogue who talks about bending rather than wealth. That and the 1920s-style quasi-red scare he masterminded suggest (to me, at least) that he was designed to fill the same role as real-world communism at the time period in which the show…
More Asami next episode!
That's a good point, but would Zaheer consider a world without bending to be balanced?
Now I really want to see Zaheer and Amon have a political debate, and then fight eachother.
Asami's going to get a lot more to do in the next episode; here's the preview clip: http://www.nick.com/videos/…
That's a really interesting point; do you think we'll see any flashbacks to their first attempt at kidnapping Korra?
I agree that Su's definitely not involved, but I don't see how she could be suspected after she was so instrumental in foiling the attempted kidnapping in Zaofu.
It was mentioned in the "What's On Tonight" article as part of their regular coverage, so it's probably just some kind of delay.
I have never been more terrified than when I saw Korra in that straightjacket with the muzzle and Asami chained up. Just as dark as ever!
It comes automatically as a side on most of the items… so I've heard.
Did he make fun of Sasha and Malia? I miss the best worst stuff!
Is Crist a sure thing? It seemed like it when he was first considering getting in the race, but all the polling I've seen has put it way closer than I thought.
One thing I really liked about this fight sequence was how useful the guards were. They were putting up a fight like any main character would!
