I partially agree. I think you should be able fill a couple post cards explaining what the tattoo means to you. But, I also think that the best reason for getting a tattoo is that you think it's a cool idea. Most other reasons don't make sense.

I dated a girl who bragged about all the TLC she put into the large tattoo on her back. I lost my shit the day I was walking through the Walmart parking lot and saw it on the bumper of a rusted out Topaz.
Has it really changed that much? If you go back to the 80's and 90's you'll find a lot of teenagers wearing Iron Maiden, Misfits, and Metallica shirts because they had cool designs. I'm sure when they bought the shirt they figured they'd eventually buy an album.
I didn't know who Starland Vocal Band was until I found them in the Billy Cobham section of the record store. I was a bit more surprised that Starland Vocal Band was the sort of thing that needed it's own section.
If you want to know about good industrial bands just look at who is remixing Nine Inch Nails albums and go from there.
Some the names that used to get mentioned a lot include: Funker Vogt, Wumpscut, Haujobb, Missing Foundation, Snog, Monte Cazazza. When I was really into it was more power noise like Imminent Starvation, and Converter; dancier stuff like Wolfshiem and VNV Nation, and then Fiendflug,
Both bands suffer from having very finite levels of creativity. I laughed the first time I heard Lulu because Metallica was using the same progressions that I learned in my bedroom 20 years ago, and Nine Inch Nails isn't that much different. This would be OK if neither of them was discussed as landmark bands releasing…
She's trying really really hard, and so are her critics. This entire charade is full of transparent people saying the same transparent things they always say. Should anyone be surprised that something as shallow and vapid as Hannah Montanah would grow to become the Nymph from Nantucket?

For some reason I think about this song whenever I hear adults discussing Justin Bieber and all his 'serious' problems. The kid walks around Prague without a shirt and everyone feels a burning need to be gravely concerned for his mental health. That's what this song really speaks. Mike is zoned out in his bedroom and…
For indie music it really isn't. Especially when you're working with a band that spends days and weeks in the studio instead of months and months. That's not even considering bands comprised of people who do session work, or have multiple side projects.
Young people drive what's cool and completely unimportant. Pop-culture is not important.
I don't think the problem is that pop-culture is targeted at 14 year-olds. I think the problem is that people reaching their late twenties without developing their own interests and tastes. This in turns creates culturally shallow parents who can't offer their children anything beyond what is already mass marketed.
I just find it amazing how heavily processed this band is. If Photograph came out today people would be mistaking the backing vocals for autotune. It's interesting that they can make all the guitar sounds and drum sounds so big and still manage to keep the buffered studio feel.
I would strongly argue that the Princess Bride doesn't poke fun at fairy tales at all, it actually indulges in them very heavily with a unapologetic zeal. It's hard to find a film + book where everybody involved was so passionate about what they were doing.
I thought Kick-Ass had to be boring. He became Kick-Ass because it was a last resort to escape the fact that he was uncharismatic and boring. Wearing a costume didn't fix this for him and it also didn't make him a super hero. This is of course heavily contrasted by the fact that Big Daddy and Hit Girl are so much more…
Sadly. I knew a lot of 30 and 40 something males who jerked off to Summer Glau's character in Firefly. As far as Kick-Ass goes at least they made an effort to point out how gross it was to see Hit Girl as a sex object, or someone who needed to be rescued by a male lover. It was clear that she needed family.
I usually cite Dresden Dolls as a reason to give Amanda Palmer some credit as an artist, and not just someone riding the coat tails of a producer. Unfortunately, I find her profoundly irritating and preposterously entitled when she tries to express her thoughts on things.
Oxymoron is one of those buzz terms that has become synonymous with failed attempts at dissing things on the Internet. Still not as badly overused as "plot hole" though.
I've never understand what bothers people so much about this. Normally I only say it because everyone assumes that you know about x, y, z, a, b, i, and b44 that's happening on TV at the moment. Also, around the turn of the century if you mentioned you didn't have a TV there was a good chance they try to give you their…
