I really enjoyed the book, but I haven't read it since high school. For some reason I'm cautiously optimistic about the movie, yet at the same time I know it's going to be a fucking disaster.

Oh of course people can and do enjoy both, which is fine. I'm just saying that the (surprsingly large) number of people who found "Brick" pretentious or confusing will likely find "Seven Psychopaths" clever and engaging.
