i took my guitar in for repair at emerald city guitars in seattle.  i was talking to the guy behind the counter when this weird guy with long gray hair shuffled by me.  j walked out with a very nice vintage gibson hollowbody, and i walked out with a very nice story.

who the fuck takes acid while wearing slacks?

buzz sat on mark's arm.  game over.

glaring hot lights are not good for penises.

a "b" for "big stinking pile of shit"

after seeing quite a few shows that were kind of similar, i got pretty cynical about the going to see the lips live.  when they came around these parts a couple of years ago to tour "embryonic" i decided not to go.  well, i ended up winning tickets from the local radio station (kexp) so i went.  and it was fuckin'

the first time i heard this song was at the beck/flaming lips show i saw.  we got there a bit late and walked in just as the song was starting.  kliph was laying down a huge beat and it was awesome.

horde festival in chicago 1997.  morphine, primus, ben folds five, beck, and neil young and crazy horse, among others.  between beck and neil young's set a huge thunderstorm rolled in.  about 4 songs into neil's headlining set the storm knocked all the power out and blew up the p a.  the generators kicked on and they

hey!  i went to woodstock '94 too!

i can't live if living is with apu

holy shit, i have this record!  i picked it up at an estate sale a few months ago.  time to give it a spin…it's beer 20 here in washington (state, that is.)

liquor, beer, and wine has one of my all time favorite lines:

ugh.  phish.  my dislike of this band knows no bounds, but for me it's pretty simple.  i HATE trey's guitar tone.

"learning to flinch" is one of my all time favorite albums.

i saw a show on the midnite vultures tour.  during one of the songs the band broke into a monster version of "let's dance."  i have a lot of live beck shows and they would break into other songs in the same fashion, such as "electric avenue."

i went to a conan o' brien show a couple of years back on his tour.   it was in seattle, and he brought out eddie vedder and mike mccready, who played an epic version of "baba" with conan's band.

there are some videos on youtube of rilo kiley and gillian welch/david rawlings playing "stop draggin' my heart around."  i also saw a david rawlings machine show where they played that song with a surprise guest…benmont tench.

neil young breaking out "on the beach" at a chicago show in 1999.  neil young guesting with gillian welch and david rawlings at the bridge school benefit in 2006 on "country girl."

here's the problem with buying new pressings:  a lot of them are digitally remastered.  not exactly an analog experience.

the traditional running time for an lp was around 45 minutes.  with the advent of the ceedee artist started releasing longer (oftentimes bloated) albums.  when you put more than, say, 22 minutes on a side the grooves get squished and sound quality suffers.
