5k?  that's bullshit.  my turntable cost 10 bucks at a garage sale.  i put an 85 dollar shure needle on it.  i'm running it through a preamp in a stereo i picked up on the side of the road for free.  with the right record, it beats cd sound hands down.

stupid argument.  vanilla ice on lp will suck because it was originally recorded digitally.  otis redding on lp will sound better because the signal chain is all analog.
