Boo.

I find it always takes me longer to like a McPhee version of a song, but the Hilty versions get me instantly.  The main song I'm obsessed with at the moment is Just Keep Moving The Line.  It is just so sexy!

I get the Phantom connection, but I thought the phantom's name was Gustav.

Yes!  The story moved as unrealistically fast as always but the plot developments were actually industry-based and interesting.  I especially loved that there were no pop songs.

I don't know of any direct connection between Marilyn and Yeats, but she did write poetry and she enjoyed reading.  This may be a way to impress that she was booksmart and intelligent.

And what to make of Ivy's song in the "serious" play being an obvious comic number?  My head hurts.

I meant that Karen was the main object of the dream.  But still…WIG?!?!?

Was it a weird shout-out to the episode's title?  Not that that's any excuse.

Broadway, Here I Come is an incredible song.  I want to see it staged properly.  The only other song of Jimmy's that interests me is I Can't Let Go - for which Jennifer Hudson can take a lot of credit.

I find myself enjoying Jerry more and more every time he appears.

Also, while there were many ridiculous aspects to Tom becoming director, it occurred to me that this may open the door for Ivy to take over as Marilyn.  Tom always preferred her.  I did too.

I agree with this review wholeheartedly.  In particular, I agree that the dream theatre moments were completely unnecessary.  Actually, if there had been a right time to use the dream theatre it would have been with Karen's revamped version of Never Give All the Heart.  But I liked seeing it in the rehearsal room.

The version in my head has Tom leaving Bombshell to bomb without him, replacing the director of Liaisons, whipping Sean Hayes into shape and turning Ivy into legitimate star.

I think this is the first time Smash has managed to genuinely surprise me with an interesting dramatic twist.  And it did so more than once this episode!  That makes me so happy.  It seems to have got several threads of the story on the right track.

Tracie Bennett is an incredible actress.  I met her in London and she is such a honey too.

I agree.  I did not like Karen's version at all, but Jimmy's version was all soul and amaze!

Karen + Jimmy.  Zero chemistry.  I just started to miss Dev for the first time.  At least he and Karen had some sort of spark.  I always thought she was most like a human when at home with him.

Anyone else notice Julia's phone call to Tom had no point?  She calls him, he asks where she is, she says she has to go.

Watching the episode at present:  how dumb are these students that they don't click it's about Marilyn, when the famous writer of the famous work in progress is sitting in front of them?

And what song did I have stuck in my head all day today?  History is Made at Night!!
